To determine if your hard drive is an IDE drive or a SATA drive, please look for the connectors. An IDE connector is longer, and has two rows of pins that stick out.

I got it today and i see that i can use it, but i cant use the case because its too small for 2.5″.

I removed hdd from failed to start notebook, connections not even close, No instructions with product, and case to thin to use.

This was a cheap product…
It did the job but my drive didnt fit in the case.
I just used the connection for a backup…

This is a ‘no frills’ 2.5 hard drive enclosure. The case is made of low quality, thin aluminum with heat dissipation rails running on the exterior of the case. The SATA connection front is plastic, and again, is not the highest quality. That said, the enclosure works perfectly fine, and if you don’t care about aesthetics, it will serve you well. The screws that connect the front are TINY and the provided screwdriver is too big to screw them in! Thankfully I have a nice set of computer tools and was able to use one of my personal screwdrivers to lock the case shut.
Overall, if you’re looking for the an inexpensive 2.5″ enclosure, this one will work, but don’t expect much from the quality.
