I use this device to boost the signal and split the cable to use with a standard cable box and a wintv pc tuner. Without it the signals would come in at about half strength and cause my cable box to drop some channels and loose quality on others. I installed this device where the cable enters the room and now the signal is full strength on both the cable box and wintv tuner. Works great and I didn't have to install it at the cable's entry point to the house.

Highly recommend this product if you are having issues with weak signal. I bought this because I wanted a TV in my garage, but when I put a splitter on the main line before it entered my house it completely knocked out most channels on my HDTV. I was worried that this wouldn't work either since I was essentially cutting the power to my house in half, but after installing it I was thrilled with the results. I have 6 outlets in my house with cable internet and still got great results using this at the the source and splitting it to a new TV. The TV in the garage works great and all the TV's in the house work perfectly, including my HDTV and on demand services. And the product arrived in just two days to boot! Couldn't be happier.

I live in an apartment with just cable tv and high speed internet; I assume my signal is somewhat weaker since I have to split the cable with all my apartment neighbors. The cable signal comes through the coax, and I initially used a plain jane splitter to channel the signals to my cable modem and tv.

After getting my internet constantly dropped, I first turned to a non-powered gold plated higher performance splitter. This was the cheapest solution, since I wasn't sure if I wanted to spend the extra dollars on a pricier amplifier splitter. The gold platter splitter worked well for a month, but then I started getting dropped internet again!

So finally, I turned to this 2 port powered amplifier. For $17.99, it's actually very reasonably priced. I plugged in all the connections, and BOOM, my internet was instantly back on, with a super strong signal. This was 6 months ago, and I haven't had a single internet problem since.

I swear by this amplifier, it's worked wonders for me. Note, this amplifier boosts 11 dB/port; the more expensive Motorola is about 15 dB/port. Depending on your situation, you'll of course have to select the best one for your needs.

Didn't help my signal at all. Plus the design requires a coax cable for power input. Not worth the $$$ at all.

It does say for cable systems however it does not state that you can void your warranty on a satellite amplifier. I guess I go to Radio shack. I will give this unit to my cousin who has a need for one also. A case of not knowing and not enough information in the description.
