Better dual core processor than the other 1410s, and you can always upgrade the 160gb HD. Gets pretty good scores in WEI and the setup is more than capable for the net and email and such. I wish the HD video from youtube would be a little more fluent, but I really can't complain for the money. Very portable, yet the screen is much better than most netbooks. Overall very satisfied!

I deliberately waited until after Windows 7 came out before ordering this ultra portable. I was looking for something as light as a netbook but with a usable display that I could use when traveling. At 11.6 inches, this was as small as my eyes could handle. So far I am very happy with it. Windows 7 with Aero runs just fine. With the dual core processor, it seems faster than my older desktop with a faster single core processor and XP. The screen is very bright and sharp. On the downside, the display is glossy and takes some positioning to get the best contrast, and don't have bright light behind you. The full size keyboard took me some time to get used to. I didn't have a issue with placement of some of the special keys as every laptop seems to have some keys in different places. Battery life is well in excess of 4 hours which is the limit I have run the batteries to before recharging. The battery meter still showed well over an hour at that point.

I really like this laptop, I take it everywhere. Plays movies and music great. The speakers are louder than my husband's HP laptop. The HDMI output connects to my projector and has great image quality. The streamed Netflix movies play better than from my desktop. The recieved wireless signal is stronger than in my old laptop. Screen is very clear. Battery life can be very variable. Windows 7 includes many settings for tailoring the battery life to your usage.

I had a Compaq v2000 and a Dell Vostro for two years each before they crashed. It didn't make sense to get ANOTHER expensive machine ($700+) because, for me, laptops just don't last.

For a while, I was deciding between the Lenovo S12 and the Samsung NC20. Both were around $450 - $500. I actually placed an order for the new s12 with NVidia Ion and thought I was getting a great deal for the price.

Then, I stumbled across this little machine. Instead of getting a very slow atom processor, I was getting a DUAL CORE machine at a sub $400 price point with no tax and free shipping! The choice was clear.

I've had this machine for a few weeks now and I'm loving it. They keyboard took a little while to get used to (I prefer raised keys), but after some practice, I'm flying. It didn't come with bluetooth, but I echo what the previous reviewer said about installing an internal module. Of course, you need to be VERY careful doing this, but I'm so glad I did. The hardest part for me was taking out the screws. They are REALLY stuck in there.

Also, the HDMI out is a great feature. I'm able to easily output to my HDTV and watch streaming videos from Hulu.

If you're looking for an inexpensive laptop that you can use for web browsing, youtube, hulu, word docs, etc. then you'll be very happy with the Acer Aspire 1410.

This computer is just a bit larger than a netbook, but offers much more computing power and a much more useable keyboard for modestly more in price.

Pros:
1) 2 GB memory standard.
2) 64 Bit Windows 7 Home Prem.
3) SU2300 processor is able to run powerful applications including Windows 7 Pro with XP Mode, Dragon Naturally Speaking, VirtualBox.
4) Long battery life.
5) Display bright enough for outdoor use.
7) Can playback HD content from Netflix online and iTunes without stuttering.
8) Lightweight
9) Battery does not stick out of computer like netbooks.

Cons:
1) Needed to update firmware to allow use of XP Mode.
2) 11.6 inch display is small - a limitation of the basic form factor.
3) Web cam not as good as on MacBooks
4) Win 7 still not as useable as Mac OS X.
5) Glossy display is inferior to matte, but seems to be the prevailing industry trend.

For the price, it is highly recommendable. Hopefully durability will be good.
