…I read that it comes with (gag! choke! retch!) Vista Basic.
Oh my friggin’ God.
WHAT is Acer thinking? The main attraction of netbooks, aside from their battery life and compactness, is the fact that they DON’T come with that massive train wreck of an operating system — just as bad as Windows Millenium was. Part of Microsoft’s typical way of forcing CONSUMERS to beta-test their OS’s and then pay to upgrade to the next OS … exactly what happened with Windows Millenium, it was basically a bug-fest prototype of Windows XP. In the same way, Windows 7 which will come out in a few months is said to be a hugely cleaned up version of Vista.
So I guess I will either wait a couple of months for Windows 7 equipped versions of netbooks to come out, or get one from another company. Too bad, because the 250GB hard drive and factory-installed 2GB of RAM on this one, in addition to the super-slim form factor, was highly attractive.
I hope Acer will at least have the decency to give its customers vouchers for a free upgrade to Windows 7.

I almost hit “add to cart” button before knowing that this unit comes with Windows Vista. If Acer can ship this with Windows XP, I would definitely buy it.

Thank you guys, I also almost bought it, but will now wait a week or two in the hope to find it coming with windows XP.
ACER: beautifull toy, but you are loosing business if you don’t offer it with wXP instead od that junk of wVISTA.
Guys have a look at Samsung NC10, nice and neat for 333$

Would buy this IF it shipped with XP (C’mon Asus… you know better!)
The net book is awesome…. big screen. 2GB of RAM ….
but wait, memory hogging VISTA???
Nooooooooooooooooooooooo…..
I so want to buy this! But we all know this thing is going to be sluggish…
now, if I came with XP I would be a big beautiful screaming netbook out of the box.
(>.< ) Dang. I guess I would have to downgrade to XP somehow?
Despite this. I am surprised that this is not in the “bestseller” list yet on amazon.

Great machine. Best bang for the buck. Size is perfect for backpack/school pack. Screen and keyboard size – excellent, not too small. Bright screen. No sweat battery life. Should come with Vista Home Premium, less bloat ware. Rating is actually 4.9
