Pros:

Lightweight (around 3.5 lbs)

Perfect for college students on the Go (Although males may prefer a bigger screen…I know my boyfriend does)

High quality resolution

Bright shiny screen

Options for battery life (Optimal battery life needs the Power Saver option. I get around 7.5 hours with power saver)

Long extension cord for the battery

You don’t have to squish your hands together to type, it has a full size keyboard

very sensitive mouse

Thin, sexy look

Will last your college student until grad school! That’s why I got it!

Cons:

For most techies, this will be a con. It has no cd/dvd drive. You have to get an external one. This is one of the reasons this laptop is so light. If this is an important issue for you, get the 14″ acer aspire, which comes with the cd/dvd drive.

Mouse clickers are hard to get used to, not as sensitive

Two of my keys have already come off, but luckily I put them back on. It was caps and shift keys

Little things that break down really speaks for poor quality at Acer. I would think that they would have worked out their kinks and improve their image from that of poor quality, but they haven’t.

After 4 months, my AC adapter went dead, 0 V registered from a multimeter. Now I am without a functioning notebook. Tried to deal with tech support, they say I have to reboot by pressing on power button for more than 30 sec, then plug in the power supply. Duh! There is no power to begin with, what is there to reboot. I will just have to buy a replacement AC adapter while waiting if Acer would replace my dead one. So frustrating.

I was doubtful of the “Over 8 Hours of Battery Life” claim. But actually, I have used the laptop for 12 hours without a charge! That was doing tasks including word processing and surfing the internet. I was surprised with how good the processor is, given that it’s only 1.3 GHz.

The mouse buttons are a bit stiff and awkward. The keyboard is different and takes some time getting used to, but is quite good.

This is a great laptop:

pros
-relatively light in comparison to other laptops
-great battery life (i don't know about the full 8, it depends on a lot of things)
-sleek design
-the keyboard feels great to use
-doesn't get extremely hot like some laptops

cons
-sound not that amazing
-keyboard can track oil easily (but what laptop can't?)
-no cd rom drive (but you should know that)

Acer recalled this product due to mic cable overheat issue.
