I can not actually believe that anyone would pay more than $10 for any HDMI cable on this planet. I challenge anyone on this planet to show me a $30, $60 or $100 cable that out performs a $10 cable. In fact, there is no scientific evidence that would even support any HDMI cable out performing another in any noticeable area. Most people buy these HDMI 1.3 cables thinking they can some how get better performance but that’s simply not true. Granted, it adds support for “Deep Color” (which is an expanded color gamut) but outside of a few high-def camcorders, there aren’t any sources that actually use Deep Color. There also are no current or future Blu-ray discs that use Deep Color. So people, do yourselves a favor and save some money will ya?

Overall this is a great product that performs just as expected; the issue is that this is a very commoditized product that is currently selling for a huge premium over competitor products which can do just as good of a job for ½ to 1/3 the price.

Amazon Basics is a great option for HDMI. The video quality is excellent, the price is pretty good and it is a very sturdy cable. a cable of 6.5 feet is great but I do still wish the offered a shorter one. I plugged in this cable from my TV to my Tivo HD, as I said, the quality of the video is great.
The cable not only performs very well, the connections fit very well with my Samsung HDTV. I highly recommend this cable.
Amazon Frustration Free Packaging makes it all better. Less wasteful packaging.

The reason this cable is not 5 stars is because you can find other less expensive cables that will do the job just as well over a span on 6.5 ft. Unless your equipment is defective, there is not much interference that will happen in that distance – so why pay for premium cable? That being said, this cable beats the heck out of other cables competing in the “premium” HDMI cable arena. Check out that on-line store with the big yellow price tag as the logo and a geek-squad cable of the same length goes for 4 times more on sale. The build quality is similar, which is to say very good.
So, If you want to spend more on a premium cable, this is a good choice.
As far as performance, when I hooked up the cable to my 1080p DVD player connected to my LCD it performed flawlessly. Physically, it is a thicker and feels sturdy, more so than cheaper versions. The packaging is simple, no bigger that it needs to be, and all recyclable – a big plus. There are no performance specs in the package so if you are interested in those, you have to get them from the Amazon website.

Kudos to Amazon for entering the cable market and doing it right. This is a very well constructed cable with a nice braided sleeve. The packaging can be opened without tools though the double boxing for shipping seems excessive. Other vendors sell similar products for a similar price but none of them have Amazon’s great website, easy ordering process and excellent customer service. I will be buying my cables from Amazon in the future.
