This Asus laptop has outstanding features equal to other laptops selling at twice the price. Everything works as it should. The price is a bargain. The delivery was reasonably fast and a fair price for shiping. TomD

the good things
-battery life
-fast boot time (maybe partly because its a new computer)
- i can watch hd youtube and hulu and just about anything on the web on integrated.
-performance
heres my windows experience score (max performance with turbo mode one, dedicated graphics on)
4.9 Processor
5.6 Memory RAM
5.0 Desktop performance for windows aero
6.0 gaming graphics
5.5 hard drive transfer rate
the bad
- bad build quality. what is the use of building an ultra portable when it can’t stand up to the rigors of travel. this build quality may be good enough if you barely travel and use it around your house more but it feels awfully weak and i don’t know if it can withstand the bumps and wear and tear of traveling. the aluminum backing of the screen feels like plastic and is very thin and weak, you can easily press it down.it does not protect the screen that much. also, palm rest started sqeaking after 3 days if you press it omg so annoying. doesn’t feel durable at all.
-horrible screen looks washed out at times and has limited viewing angles, it has a small sweet-spot. even some of the cheapest laptops have better screens than this.
-mushy, so so keyboard- i seem to make more mistakes and cant type as fast as i could but it still usable. i would say it is average to below average
- not good use of space-the border of the screen on top is too big. has a short and fat screen but alot of laptop screens are moving in this direction.
-glossy plastic doesn’t bother me on palm rest but it does on the border of the screen
-could still lose some weight.
-webcam has horrible quality
-no bluetooth, just telling you, i dont use it
-lights in front annoying sometimes if you are far away from laptop
-trackpad good except 2 finger scroll is too jerky so i never use it
-weak speakers just like every other ultraportable laptop
-express gate (the instant boot up so you can listen to music, browse web etc) is useless. it has horrible graphics and i would rather just go straight into windows.
-must restart computer to turn cpu turbo boost on and off unlike the graphics switch
-there are some buggy stuff like using fn to adjust brightness and the fn+ number pad and adjusting modes and stuff.
-i can pull off every sticker except the intel and nvidia one. watch out for those, i now have a thin layer of ugly glue i need to get rid of.
yea i listed more negatives than positives but this is still a good laptop. this is a good laptop if you want to do gaming but want long battery life too so you can bring it everywhere with you. if you don’t game, this laptop may be overkill and you can get something better and cheaper without these flaws.

I had some problem with the touch pad at first. I adjusted the settings and got rid of most of it. (it was really jittery) It still comes and goes some times, but it’s been pretty good mostly. The multitouch scroll is still a little jittery but it’s usable. Also, the screen could use a better view angle.
I haven’t had time to try any games but it’s supposed to have a decent graphics card for this size computer. I liked that it still had a DVD drive in it too. Some of the Dells and HPs don’t at this size and performance. It’s nice and light too and has a VERY long battery life as it can switch off the powerful graphics card and go to a built in one to save power.
I wish it had bluetooth but that’s not a big thing. That’s really about the only thing I’d almost expect it to have that it doesn’t.
Oh and it’s got a good warranty built in. Dell would charge an arm and a leg for this type of warranty (accidental damage and such for something like 2 years I think)
All in all, if you are looking for best bang for the buck over the big name brands, this probably qualifies.

I spent days researching laptops when my Dell Latitude died. Everyone I knew told me to get a Mac, but for what I wanted, it would have cost around $1600. I kept seeing the Asus brand in online reviews named as an Editor’s Choice. I can now see why… This is a great computer. It’s sleek, fast, easy to use, and very lightweight.
In case you don’t know, Asus makes the motherboards for Mac computers, so this is just as fast and reliable as a Mac (and even more so since they had the lowest number of complaints out of all the computer companies).
My only gripe would be the track pad is a bit tricky, but I have a wireless mouse that I use anyway.
This is a fantastic machine and with the warranty and reliability, I am 100% satisfied with my purchase.
