These speakers were very weak. The sound was very weak, even with my mp3 player turned up all the way. I had to hold the speakers close to my ears to hear clearly. The speakers do not have their own power source, so this makes them a lot weaker than speakers the use batteries or that have their own power source.

Don’t waste your money on these speakers. I’m Sorry I did. Very quiet. Go with the Sony portable SRSTP1. They,re cheaper and Louder. If you want bass, go with battery operated.

This product is a “passive” speaker system that does not use batteries and depends on the power of your device to output any sound. It is a complete waste. Most devices I tried it with output about as much sound from these speakers as earbuds out of the ear. I can’t imagine anyone wanting to carry around this amount of bulk and not have any sound loud enough to hear in a very quiet room. NOT recommended.

Without an internal amplifier (speakers only, no batteries), this unit puts out more undistorted volume than several small USB rechargeable units I have tried. At max volume with my Creative Zen Plus, I get sufficient volume to hear audio books clearly even with some noise in the room. No distortion (unlike small powered units at max volume). Must be the big thin speakers used. A pleasant surprised, I have ordered more.

Okay for a quiet environment, but when there’s external noise (ie, while in the car driving), the volume isn’t loud enough. Too bad.
