This is a good vacuum for the money…all vacs pick up dirt and hair incredibly well at first…someday I’ll get a Dyson

I bought this vacuum yesterday at Target. My old oreck was not doing the job and I’m sorry I ever bought that thing in the first place. But, this Bissell really did do the job. I was dumbfounded when I saw all the hair and dust in the container. I have a cat and a dog and I thought I was keeping up with the hair. Was I ever wrong! I feel so much better knowing how much cleaner my house is. The little turbobrush thingy worked great on the upholstery. I did the upholstery and the pet beds with it. For the price I don’t think you can go wrong with this machine. I only gave it 4 stars because I’ve only had it a day and I thought the hose could be a little longer. Even so, I’m thinking of getting another one for the downstairs. I recommend buying this machine.

The tip of the philips screw was broken off before it was packaged in celophane and sealed. The crevice tool was not included and neither was the extension tool. Vacuum had good suction. It is lightweight. I found the handle uncomfortable to hold and the standing height of the machine uncomfortably short. I am 5′5″ so not sure how someone taller would use. I have some arthritis in my hand which is usually not a problem in performing tasks. However this handle left my hand hurting after very brief use. Overall I was disappointed given the many reviews praising machine and thought the quality lower than my previous Hoovers. Returned item and will not purchase brand again.

very nice product -very difficult to assemble and a mess to clean it. The big problem was Amazon their customer service is now probably among the worst in the industry. I used to be a big fan of Amazon but now i am going to be very careful of ordering from amazon . I cannot believe their service and pricing and non-existance price protection is now the new normal

Bissell vacuum motor has an integrated motor-vacuum fan design. That means the fan and motor is made together in one piece. That means you can’t replace/repair the fan or motor separately. The motor brushes are a trouble or weak spot as it smokes and produce a burning smell after about 3 years of normal use. My model 3590 and several newer ones use similar problematic motor-fan assembly. During cleaning do not spray water into the fan-vacuum chamber as the housing and bearings are suspectible to water-induced rust damage resulting in premature bearing wear. When you hear a continuous loud sound from your Bissell, that’s evidence the bearing has worn out. Motor-fan replacement assembly cost about $58.00 which approaches the price of a new low-end Bissell model. As the aphorism teaches: you get what you pay for.
