Way too much for a battery charger.
Come on now …..
Works fine, but price is a ripoff.
amazon makes things worse by charging tax to NY when lots of online retailers don’t, such as Newegg.
I always look elsewhere 1st – Amazon is my last choice now.
Look around and factor tax in – you will see – you can usually do better than Amazon.

This battery should have came with the Canon HG20. I can record for about 3 hours using this battery. I never ran it down so that is just going on the battery meter on the camera’s LCD for remaining battery life. It does stick out the back of the camera because it has more battery cells but it is the same color as the camera and only sticks out a few millimeters. It doesn’t get in the way so don’t worry about that if you have read that it sticks out. The battery life is great but Canon shouldn’t make you pay the exorbitant price for it to get it separately. They should either reduce the price or include it as a substitute to the standard battery which only provides about 1.5 hours of operation. Again, as with my other reviews, only 4 stars because of the price, which is very high.

I purchased this charger to supplement my FS11 camcorder. It allows me to charge batteries while continuing to shoot videos. The item was received and operated as expected.

Until I learned of the CG-800 and its remarkable capabilities, I was using my $85 Canon batteries as disposables. I had a feeling something was wrong; could digital video really be this expensive?
Since receiving my CG-800, I’ve been using my batteries again and again. In fact, I’ve canceled my monthly “Subscribe & Save” Canon battery shipment. Truly marvelous stuff.

This is an excellent alternative than with the in-camera charging or if you have multiple batteries you can charge your extras with this one. I have a total of 3 batteries for my HF100 and this will be a godsend when traveling. Charging batteries with this unit is faster than the vidcam itself.
