This computer has many great features, especially the duplex printing option; HOWEVER, the Canon software engineers are “supporting” this printer with crappy drivers. To use this printer, you MUST run a USB cable DIRECTLY from your computer to the printer. You CANNOT hookup your printer to a wireless base station. This is old school and shows that Canon is falling behind in its software. Too bad, because the hardware is solid.

This product is the newer version of the MFC 4150. I have both a new iMAC and a PC running Vista. I was able to have this multifunction printer do everything except PRINT! I could scan, copy and fax with my my computer but something was wrong with the printer drivers for either computer. I called tech support and went through their hoops with no success. The drivers did not fix the problem. My suspicion is that this new release printer has a bug in its driver. Either way I returned the product and got a full refund. I ended up ordering the former model the 4150 which has a better track record (as evident from the numerous reviews). For some odd reason the 4150 is also 10 dollars more expensive. There must a reason for that right?
PS: It was the tech support for Canon that recommended I return the printer. They stated they were out of ideas.

It is not a Mac printer period. There is no Firmware for Mac. Scanner works only through software and printer can not be share through router with other computer. It is a Window MFC printer period. I am returning mine and getting a Brother MFC printer.

Canon support told me when I purchased this printer about 9 months ago that a linux driver was being developed. All I want is to print from either Windows or linux; I don’t need to scan or fax. However, there is still no linux driver. If you’re running a linux OS, choose a different printer.
