Had to return this camera after waiting over a month.
After owning several Canon p/s that I was very pleased with and still own two, the sx200 is not at all what I expected. I have just returned it.
The pop-up flash is just a really bad design for several reasons.
The camera body has a very slippery feeling, and nothing really to anchor it in your hand with any feeling of safety from dropping.
I fear it will be a real energy eater recharging batteries and replacing much to often.
Bottom line, Canon has made a mistake with this camera.
Guess I’ll look at the Olympus 9000, or wait for the Panasonic tz7

Canon SX200 This is a wonderful camera and it should be easy to learn to use it but the instruction booklet stinks. First it is too small and the print much smaller than makes for easy reading. The pictures of the LCD
are so dark I have to use a magnifier to see what the icons are. I have 20-20 vision so I suspect I’m not alone with my thoughts. Come on Canon,
you make a fine camera but spend a few more bucks and make the booklet easier to read, esp. for the novice trying to improve his photo skills.

This camera worked great for 9 weeks then I got a “lens error” and now it’s too late to return it to Amazon and Canon won’t fix it. Don’t risk buying this camera.

My Canon SD1000 7.1MP camera takes better photos than the SX200. No, I am not exaggerating. The noise in the photos were unbearable. Please take this review to heart. I had to return this camera. I love Canon, but save some money and buy another model. I really liked all of the settings too. I just wish the photos were clearer.
EDIT: My camera may have been defective after all. Can’t change my star rating though.

Great Camera buy it here. Found it for $229 at “Camera Giants” super deal uh! No way! Ordered camera then was told to call for order verification. The Rep. then tried to sell me another battery because he claimed the original would only last 20 minutes! Battery cost $99.00. Then he tried to sell me more memory cost $149.00. When I explained that I own numerous Canon cameras and am well aware of what might be needed he quickly told me it would be a couple of weeks before they would ship the camera! I called the next day to check on the status and was told it was back ordered and wasn’t expected until late June! I cancelled the order.
You get what you pay for stay away from Camera Giants and stick with Amazon….
