Amazon sells this for $0.76 MORE than MSRP as listed on Sandisk’s site, but claims to be saving you $39.24. What’s up with that?
Sounds like a good product, and maybe still a good deal with free shipping, but don’t be fooled by the savings claim.

Although the Sansa Clip Plus rates a solid five stars in all categories there are a couple of shortcomings that should be noted. Since almost all MP3 players use built in rechargeable batteries their use is limited to those individuals that have access to either a computer, AC source or car charger. An individual on the trail or camping in the rough would be out of luck once the battery ran down. There are a couple of very inexpensive MP3 players that operate on AAA batteries, I have one that works very well and is easy on batteries but does not appear to be very well made and I don’t expect it’s life expectancy to be very long.
While the Sansa Clip Plus 2gb is a great buy, it can only be thrown out when the non-replaceable battery is worn out. Seems a shame but I’m sure the Sandisk folks would argue (and perhaps justly so) that a replaceable battery would no longer be practical. Early in the game Sandisk did market a line of AAA battery powered MP3 players but since has discontinued them.

Great price, sound quality, size, and easy to use. Plus you can expand the memory or have multiple SD cards.

The Sansa Clip+ is fifth mp3/media player I’ve owned. It is by far the best. I listen primarily to podcasts. It has both a fast-forward and extra-fast forward. Great for speeding through sections of an hour long mp3. It holds your place where you stop; even if you switch to another mp3, listen to FM, or even if you load new material it allows you to resume listening where you left off. Like other Sansa players, it has an equalizer. Preferred over the usual gimmicky tone presets. The firmware was clearly written by users of the product. Menus are thorough and easy to learn.
Clip +; Highly recommended.

The sound is crystal clear, the OLED screen is super bright at all angles, it comes with an FM tuner and voice recorder, and all this for under $40? It’s a great deal if I ever saw one.
It works fine under Linux, and shows up as a hard disk volume. No software install required. Take that, Apple.
The only thing I don’t like about it is the glossy front panel. Thankfully, the side and rear panels are matte, but after five minutes of use, the front has already been marred by a couple of fingerprints.
