It has been returned for a refund. And as of today, the matter was handled promptly. I purchase through Amazon frequently. I don’t know that I would purchase an electronic item again because of the risk of it not working. But books are always great.

………but, certainly NO SounDesign {the BEST record player EVER made, imho}. Now, I already have 2 record players {both a SounDesign}, but I was thinking it’d be neat to “save” some of my records to a cd {via uploading to my computer}. Sadly, this was NOT to be the case. I went -step-by-step- w/the instruction manual on how to set it up and upload my music – not even close! Oh, well………….
……at least I can still listen to my records on it. But, it was a very expensive way to do this, since I already have a couple of record players to begin with. Very well-made, and very heavy {about as heavy if you remember ever carrying around 1 of those massive school portable record players?}. However, my tone arm is excessively VERY sensitive! The 1st 3 months I’ve had this record player, no problems. The past 2 days, however, when I put on either my Hawaii record or my Space record, it jumps the beginning wax – and, the needle jumps to the middle of the 1st song, on any album. It feels like the tone arm somehow got itself wound tight, and I’m not sure how {if even possible?} to loosen it???
If your wanting a record player w/the possibility of a problem or 2, this is the 1 to get – I mean it’s great, but then again, it’s not either; you know? If you really want a good {reliable} record player – just to ‘play’ your records on, search your local thrift stores – that’s where I found my 2 lovely SounDesigns!!!

Nice enough little inexpensive functional machine for the non obsessive, but why oh why can the cover NOT be closed when the turntable is in use???
i cannot tell you how FASCINATING this machine is to my cats, who now must be sequestered in another room when i want to chill with my vinyl. too bad as their curling up with me on couch would be a nice part of experience but alas, this machine cannot be covered by THE COVER that exists and closes well, just not when a record is on deck. AH if they only gave us another 3/4″!
So Pet Owners, beware. Not a pet friendly machine! Just Annoying.
