I purchased this item having used (with good success) an earlier version purchased about 5 years ago. Sadly, after a break-in at school, I needed to purchase a replacement. With the new version, video transfered slowly with the audio out of sync,when I called their tech support they were less than helpful and fairly patronizing. I went shopping again and for about $20 less than I paid for the Pinnacle, I purchased and installed a firewire card and cable. With the firewire card and cable, video transfer has been quick and synced everytime. I’ve used it with both the mini dv tape camcorder and a mini dvd camcorder. Don’t bother with this “thing”, save some $, time and aggravagtion and just install a firewire card!

My movies went from tape to computer great. Editing was fun, though time consuming. The problem? You can’t get it to transfer to DVD! It just doesn’t. Even th company is aware of this and they say they are working on it. That doesn’t help me now! Hours and hours of work all down the drain and there is no help for it. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT IF YOU WANT TO MAKE DVD’S!

my review isn’t for the product but for the seller the items were sent separate and when we got the second item it was not what we ordered it was a dog pack for a dog to put on. ( we ordered a video production dazzle ) although we eventually got the correct item it was a hassle to return and again wait for the new item
