This is the first home theater system that i have bought and i got talked into getting this instead of the 5 disk dvd changer with surround. my roommate just moved out and he had one of those with GREAT sound and thumping bass. the only downfall was the volume..it got loud but with big parties it was just a tiny bit too quiet. anyway so i got this thinking i will get a blu ray dvd player later when prices go down. my expectations were really high because of the size of the woofer box and the boston acoustics brand but i was highly disapointed. The surround really is pretty nice, but when standing in the middle of my room with the volume up i cant even tell that there is a sub…the volume changes just barely, so it is too loud when your just listening quiet and doesnt CRANK UP when you want it too, it crackles and pops to loud bass also..the reason why the two stars is because of the other speakers, i got a higher gauge wire and they sound really nice but i am taking the system back and either getting a different woofer or a completely different system all together.

I was looking to purchase a system that had at least 3 HDMI inputs and I found this DENON and it had all the qualities in a system that I was looking for nice look and all the inputs I wanted set up was a breeze because of the HDMI inputs because no messy wires to hide afterwards it came with a mic that detected the noise to determine where the speakers were at and how far away they were and stuff like that i was impressed. Then came the only downside I hooked up my Mitsubishi 60in dlp and my Xbox360 and turned it on to enjoy the sound of my lovely system and thats when I found out that it doesnt support sound through the HDMI which is what I was really buying the system for so now I had to go out and buy a coax cable for the sound so I have all my HDMI wires going through my TV and out to my system so i brought this and dont have any HDMI Cables plug into it at all so I was highly upset but when I finally got it hooked up right and turned it on and heard the sound from the Bass and the surround sound speakers I was ok still a little mad also the remote was a little hard to work out but I kept playing with it and now I have all my radion stations preset and I can preset all my EQ chanells also so the systems is really good except for the sound not being able to go through the HDMI cables now i have to return all the cables to Target today hopefully they take them back because I opened the boxes LOL i rate this system at 4.5 stars if you buy it you will be impressed at the acoustic sound it delivers

I purchased this at Sears for around $450. It is a good system and has just the amount of hookups I need. The only downside was the manual was not clear on how to setup the components hooked into it. After a while of messing with he settings I got my PS3 and cable box hooked up and working great. It sounds good and am happy with the purchase.

This powerful receiver coupled with quality Boston Acoustics speakers will be more than powerful enough for any movie viewer, hosting a party, or just watching tv. Bought this at Sears for $500 when the receiver itself sells for $300. The powered sub does thump and I only have it set slightly above 1/2 volume (gain). Overall I’m very impressed with the system. Only downside is the Ipod dock sells seperatley for ~ 150 and ~250. One dock is Wifi enabled so you can stream music from your laptop. I’d recommend this system for anybody looking for great value with two high end mfgs (Denon and Boston Acoustics) for an affordable price without sacrificing quality.
