I just put mine together. In the process, the “on” button accidentally got pushed. The assembly directions say the battery is discharged and needs to be charged for 20 hours before 1st use, but the sweeper started and ran immediately. Interesting…I wonder if the one I just received is used! This one is compact and was easy to put together. We are using this as an inexpensive alternative to cleaning up crumbs after meals after our children eat. We figure for $40, it’s cheaper to replace than to keep repairing the vacuum since the kids are the one to clean up after meals, and we hope it motivates them to do a better job with clean up.

Just as you may have already read, this Shark VX1 does not replace our vacuums, that’s not what it’s intended for. It does however offer so much more. It’s quiet which is great when the kids are sleeping. It tucks in corners or closets easily. We keep ours right between the wall and couch in our den/tv room because our kids make messes multiple times a day. The only problem is the battery… It was great for a couple weeks, now on a full charge I get about 30 seconds and it’s dead.
Even as I write this review, my wife is on her way back to the store we purchased it from, and because she purchased the extended warranty we can return it. We are upgrading to the Shark Vx3 because it has better reviews and twice the battery life. I know a lot of restaurants that use them multiple times per day without an issue, and that’s a good enough review for me all in and of itself.
My advice, spend a little more and get the model that is a step above this one.

Buy the swivel sweeper instead! I bought this when I finally broke my swivel sweeper, it’s terrible!!! I am going back to the swivel sweeper. I would have to go over area multiple times to get all the crumbs. I only use this in my kitchen (after dinner, I have three kids) and it would take forever. They should discontinue this product!

I bought this because I have two cats and was looking for a quicker way of dealing with cleaning up the kitty litter spills. It was also shedding season and I couldn’t keep up with the pet hair. It works great for me on the litter, but not so well on the cat and dog hair. It does pick up pet hair, but not the bigger clumps – those it tends to push around. I am very happy about the kitty litter clean up – no more stooping with the broom and dust pan, leaving a little line of dust where the dust pan was. I am sorry to hear that the battery life is so short – I’ve had mine for about a month and have been happy so far. I’d buy this or a similar product again.

It’s alright. I like some of the features of the swivel sweeper (my battery died and I thought I would upgrade to the Shark..yeah right) and some of the features of the Shark. If someone could put them together it would be great.
Can’t get into corners and underneath very well (even with the bendable handle..profile is too high).
Has one brush can only get food crumbs going forward, but once it has it picked-up it stay inside the sweeper.
Not as much power as the swivel sweeper. Works decent on carpets.
But plan to give this away and get the swivel sweeper G2.
