The set-up screen allows users to input access info (Network name, User Name, and password) directly on the card. However, and this is a huge however, you MUST authorize this login info via a wifi enabled computer on that network prior to using.
This means that you must carry a laptop with you everywhere you might want to upload photos from. I thought I’d be able to easily upload photos from around town on open networks – this is not the case unless I take my computer along to configure the card prior to uploading.
Heck, I even know the login info for a couple of wifi networks at coffee shops near my place. I can’t even pre-setup those networks on the card without taking my laptop there and authorizing to complete the setup.
This hassle completely defeats the purpose of the Eye-Fi card.
To be fair, once you’ve gone through the hassle of ‘authorize’ a network that network is set. No need to carry your laptop back there to upload from that location.
I contacted the manufacture about this inherent flaw they explained that it was in fact a ‘feature’. I strongly disagree.
Do not buy any of the Eye-Fi cards. Wait for the version 2.0 or maybe 3.0.

THIS IS THE LETTER I WROTE TO EYEFI THIS MORNING:
Hello,
I am writing to let you know that I am returning your most expensive version of the EyeFi card with geotagging ($130+ USD). To describe my experience with your card as disappointing would be a vast understatement. I don’t care if you can fix the problem with all of your cards, because the pictures that were taken with this memory stick were irreplaceable. I took approximately 50 pictures at my father’s 60th and my only nephew’s first birthday party of family and friends, many that I will never see again. I trusted your card to work perfectly. The first 12 or so pictures were uploaded safely, but all the rest were never uploaded and now the card can not be read in any device. I have tried software to recover the data, but the memory stick is simply not recognized in any device. My wife was crushed when she found out that the I can’t access the card (I build computers and have never run into this problem with ANY memory card, EVER). I want EyeFi to recover my images and give me a full refund. Please do not send the card back to me as I have lost trust in your company and have no faith in your products.
I wanted to put this message up as a warning to other users considering the purchase of this device. This message will be placed on all websites that I can place a review on this product for, as apparently, I am not the only one with this problem. I have read numerous similar stories like mine in forums and on the web.
Thank you, EyeFi, for the worst Holiday experience.

Don’t buy this if you have a wireless internet card. It doesn’t work. Otherwise, I have nothing bad to say about it. I was just never able to use it as anything other than a regular memory card. So I lost a few bucks. No big deal, live and learn.

I was so excited for this product, I waited about 10 days to recieve it, and when I tried to install it, there was a fault with the card. It would not set up and I had to return it!

This does not work. I want to return it but I threw the box out. It is hard to configure, worked for about a day and then stopped working. I have been on the support email for days and they keep saying standard stupid stuff like, reformat the card. I have to keep explaining to them that the card is dead. It does not even work plugged into a card reader on my USB port.
don’t buy it.
