Fujifilm FinePix F60fd 12MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Dual Image Stabilized ZoomThis camera offers a lot of nice features. But, none of that is relevant if you are unable to download your pictures using the supplied USB cable. I ordered this camera twice and both were not able to provide me with an end product. Disappointing to say the least. The FujiFilm techs were very professional about it and Amazon was stellar in their prompt replacement. But, in the end, I ended up with two duds!

I took this camera on vacation and shot pics under a wide variety of conditions in order to try out its features. The pictures I uploaded to my computer are gorgeous, true in color, no red eye, etc etc. BUT, (and this is a feature of any camera that lacks a viewfinder), it’s impossible to frame a shot in bright light. I had to just hold it up in the general direction and hope for the best. I’m returning it and looking for a decent point and shoot with a viewfinder.

Bought this camera after having a FujiFilm A50 and S7000. Still amazed of the quality of this product. Sadly I drop it down and the service in Argentina was more expesive than buying a new one.

A lot of the pictures I took had a thin pink band running from top to bottom on the left side of the shot. This was the case in auto, natural(night), and movie mode. Took over 200 pictures with this camera and the majority had this band.
Since this is the second review I am not sure whether it is a fault isolated to this camera or prevalent within the type. Either way I returned the camera because of this fault.

The Fuji Finepix F60fd camera perfoms very well. The lens has a slightly wider maximum aperture than most of its competitors, which I feel gives it a useful optical edge. Optical zoom is adequate at only 3:1 but zooming rather than adjusting your viewpoint is lazy anyway. Face recognition and auto redeye correction works very well. Auto scene recognition works OK (though I wouldn’t rely on it). Most of the time I have used the camera in full auto, but there are manual override options as well as shutter and aperture priority though metering in these modes is a bit awkward. The biggest problem is the poor LCD visibility in strong daylight, but this is a problem with most compacts due to the lack of an optical viewfinders this is my first compact without one). This camera is slightly larger and heavier than its sub-compact competition, but I like the solidity this gives it. Most of the other cameras I tried felt too small and fiddly in operation. Picture quality is more than good enough, but you need to ensure maximum ISO is limited to prevent very grainy images in low light. I have max ISO set at 800. Menus are well laid out once you get the hang of the logic. Only the lack of an optical viewfinder prevents me giving this camera five stars.
