I would be giving it five stars *EXCEPT* that Fujitsu just transferred it’s whole hard drive sector to Toshiba last week. I went to Toshiba and found no support for these drives except for a somewhat confusing instructinos (and a toll-free number) concerning warranty repair/replacement issues.

This drive comes with a password lock program, which I installed so that my data would be safe when I travel. However, you have to have that software installed on any computer you use if the drive is locked. I installed this on my home computer and put a lock on the drive. Today I came back to work with the drive and realized I didn’t have the software CD with me to put it on the office computer. “Okay,” I thought, “I’ll just see if I can download it online.”

Well… the Fujitsu page just points to the Toshiba page. The Toshiba page has ZERO documentation or downloads for the handydrives that I can find. Guess how I was able to get the program? I used the Google Cache version of a Fujitsu page to find links to the downloads which are still available on the Fujitsu computers (but now hidden from the world–and who knows how long they will be there?).

So, great drive, but it’s now a step-child of Toshiba and so far–in the first week–the online documentation and support sucks.
