It’s about time. Garmin had ignored Macs for years. I guess we finally got enough market share to make it worth devoting some development resources to…. That’s good, because I’m NOT booting to Windows just to run their programs or anyone else’s.
Works great. Just like it should. I use Garmin 12XL and 60 CSx. Hook up via USB and Serial-Four Pin Plug. No problems.

The Mac version of this software is not ready for prime time. It works, but just barely. It has no features other than downloading the maps to the GPS. Small downloads to the GPS unit are OK, large ones are not. The maps on this disk require over 4G if you include Alaska & Hawaii. Even though the GPS unit will hold and recognize a 4G card, the software will not. This is not documented. Even a 2G download will require 8-12 hr to download and often the unit shuts down during the download. Garmin tech support admitted that this isn’t the easiest software to use. Better use Parallels and run the windoz version of the software. Consider yourself warned. I sent it back.

Finally, I can update maps for my Garmin GPSr from my Mac without having to boot to Vista. I usually had some sort of problem loading new maps from Vista, but this product running on OSX has worked first time, every time! While this product does not have points of interest or allow you to route your travel, it has proven very accurate for me when out hunting or hiking, sometimes off-trail where contour lines become very important. It also has given me seldom used back-roads that did not show up on friends’ map products. While this is not completely up-to-date, it has proven itself a valuable tool and I am glad to have it.
