There is no difference in this product and nuvi 200 series , if you happend to own , or seen.
The thickness of the device which is so much talked about is absolutely not seen , when you actually hold both the 200 series and the 1200 series
There is no difference in functionality for the comparable device ( dont compare 1350 with nuvi 260) , but if you compare nuvi 265 with nuvi 1200 its a complete rip off
Who should buy this >>
1. Some one who does not own a Garmin in 2.5″ form factor
2. And if its your first device
Who should not buy this
1. If the market still has nuvi 200 series buy those
2. If you already own nuvi 200 series , ignore this
I am so so disappointed with this Garmin , (not technically) but with the thinckness which is hyped so much , and it came as a stab in the back from Garmin

I went outside like it said in the directions. I tried it several times in different open areas and it was never able to acquire satellites. Perhaps I simply received a defective one or something broke during shipment. I don’t know. All I know was I mailed it back and got a refund.

It is small enough to slip into pocket. But it did not have the “announce lane changes” feature that my Nuvi 750 had. It also does not have “voice activated” menu that other more expensive Nuvi have. It gave a wrong name to the street in front of me. However, it does find my location much faster (in a few seconds) than my Nuvi 750 (which can take up to 3 mins). The menu in home page is better than the 750 as well. Does not have mp3 player like my 750 had. The free update of map became available a couple of months after I registered, but I was not notified (I found that out by accident ) and this update would have expired if I had not found it out by accident.
Tech support by email was good.

Just received my Garmin nuvi 1200 and I am thrilled. It took about 6 seconds to hook it up and figure out how to work it. This from a guy who is amazed by a toaster. The picture is clear as a bell and the maps are so easy to read. For [...] this is a steal. You won’t be sorry you bought this one. Arrived within 4 days. I want to buy another one just to stick on my forehead, Im always lost .

Pros:
-Better processing speed.
-Good starting point for new GPS users
-Ease-of-use, bright display and good speaker.
Cons:
-I have used Nuvi 200, there is no big difference between 200 and 1200. In fact its almost same. Processing speed is little improved in 1200.
-Sometimes gets bad data form satellite which leads to wrong turn. It happens twice so far.
-No QWERTY keyboard.
-No USB cable in the box. Although Garmin insists to register the product by connecting your device to computer.
-Expensive as we can get same functionality in Nuvi 200.
