Since my first review, when I was only using the iMic to copy old cassettes to my PC computer as MP3s, I have since used it to also copy vinyl 45s. At first, I copied cassette tapes of my late father-in-law playing harmonica. I have since copied other, commercial cassette tapes.
I am not a music geek, and don’t know all of the pros and cons of what good sound is. I am just an ordinary guy who wants the music as MP3s.
It took me a while to learn to use the Audacity software, and I am still struggling with it somewhat. I also had to download a file in order to export as MP3, which was disconcerting. It took a while to figure out which one to download, and then to download it and install it.
I am pleased to have copied so many music tapes and vinyl records to MP3, and plan to do many more, as time permits. I have several vinyl albums and many more cassette tapes to copy yet. I recommend this device as a simple way to copy your music.
You will need a cassette player or turntable with audio output ports to use it.

Works as advertising and lets me cue music from djay software while music is playing. I only use it for this feature. Have not used the mic in.

Sometimes it is just great when things happen as expected. Got what I wanted quickly and at a reduced price.

The Apple Mac mini audio input jack is highly susceptible to picking up 60-cycle hum and other audio noise. I bought this device to get around the problem and found it introduces a high level of white noise to the audio signal. Not acceptable.
