I guess it is a good product, it does not work on Windows 2000, so it is just setting on a shelf.

Spent four hours trtying to make this card work in my Itanium Windows Vista PCIE system.
Like I am, you will likely be sending this card back.
I could tell the whole story here, but four hours is enough.

I ordered this so I could hook my satellite box to my computer. I wanted to watch the news while I’m on the computer. I run Windows Home Premium with an Intel E2140, 2GB ram and a PNY 8500GT graphics card.
What I get is a mid-quality black & white picture. A T.V. connected to the same cables gives a color picture, but when the 1196 is hooked up, black & white.
I then hooked it up to a cheap set top antenna. The picture quality of the digital channels is very good, but I bought it to watch satellite T.V. on my computer. And at that it fails.
Maybe I just got a bad card. Maybe I just got what I paid for.

After plugging the new card and cable in my Vista PC and letting Windows install the driver from the CD, I fired up Media Center (MC) and let it scan for a signal. After about a minute, MC came back and said it can’t find a signal. At first I thought it was MC that was reporting wrong. So, I proceeded to install the rest of the software on the CD. Bad Move. The installer silently installed about 14 programs on my PC. Things like Guide Scheduler, Infra-red config, etc. Programs I don’t care and don’t want on my PC.
Anyways, long story short – WinTV failed to get any signal too. So, I uninstalled all the software one by one, rebooted my machine and then carefully installed just the driver and the WinTV software. This time, WinTV found a bunch of Analog channels, but they all came out in Black and White with poor signal. To rule out the possibility of a bad cable, I plugged an older card from my other PC. My older card, PVR150 worked just fine with MC, and showed crystal clear picture.
To save myself from further frustration, I packed it and took it back to the store.

Nowhere was it mentioned that this card DOES NOT HAVE A HARDWARE DECODER!!!! Do not bother with this card. Research more and find one that includes a hardware decoder or you will use 100% CPU just to try and watch a jerky unwatchable hdtv channel.
