i have read some of the reviews criticizing this product with some bemusement.
First it is very easy to assemble. Second, the humisdistat DOES work - our machine keeps switching on & off.
Third, it is reasonably quiet, though not as quiet as the ultrasonic version i used to own.

the problem with ultrasonic is that dispersion is limited, & they usually leaves white mist & or wet puddles on the floor!

I have now owned for 1 year heavy usage every night, no complaints, easy to change water.

One might think the deluxe version for just some plastic moulding to raise the height of the humdifier is a bit pricey, but its not gimmicky as the height does matter & it becomes easy to wedge into tight spaces.

bottom line, my twins sleep better every day with this product, & its invaluable when either has a cold.

This competible HAC504 is thiner than the original Honeywell HAC504 so it is less efficient and wasting power. It is cheaper than the Honeywell brand but you will pay more power bill.

my answer was to call them and I left message I received wrong merchandise and would like my money back I had to purchase a new machine filter sent were not even close to the right ones. I gave them a chance to make it right but they did not. I am tired of playing games with these companies I just considered the loss.

Evaporative humidifiers are flawed conceptually for several reasons: they are noisy, high velocity air to create enough humidity to be worthwhile is uncomfortable, wet evaporator filter breeds molds etc. You have to keep buying filters and chemicals to keep it clean which are evaporated into the air. Other types are more expensive so sometimes you have to compromise.
