Pros:
Value/Price when purchased on Sale
Windows 7 is a nice improvement
Reasonable quality given price
Full Keyboard with Number Pad
Cons:
Weight (6 lbs 5 oz or so with the battery)
Size for screen resolution
Only a single core processor
Bottom Line: This is a superb value in a PC laptop. The machine makes a great Internet computer or any other application that doesn’t require a lot of processing power. The computer is very large and heavy given the specifications (my nearly 2 year old MacBook is nearly 1 and a half pounds lighter for better specifications with similar screen resolution, but it also cost significantly more).
My main use for the computer will be to take it with me on photo shoots and temporarily backup pictures to the hard drive using the built in SD card reader and to review pictures as necessary. I will also use it as an Internet computer. This computer will work excellent for my needs and at a cost less (sale price) than an iPod. I couldn’t hardly buy an external hard drive for this price.
For those that are interested, this is a no frills machines. The memory is two 1 GB SODIMM DDR2 800 MHz by Samsung (at least in my unit), so upgrading would requiring purchasing and replacing the existing memory with 2 GB modules. There is no web-cam as some thought.

The description says HP Webcam and Youcam software but it’s no on the laptop. I am still satisfied with the purchase given I got it as a Black Friday deal and am using it more like a Netbook for surfing the Internet, networking and checking email. My more powerful tasks that require more memory will remain on another laptop, but this one is more portable and has better battery life.
Likes:

1. Lightweight
2. Good battery life
3. Nice 16:9 widescreen – graphics are HD quality.
4. Windows 7 – it’s nifty
5. Number pad on the keyboard
6. button to turn wifi off and power button are the only 2 buttons on this machine
7. lightscribe
8. Cost – got this for $197 during Black Friday!! That’s the best part!
9. Not filled with a bunch of crap software I won’t use. Thank you HP.
10. Easily connected to my wireless HP printer in one easy step
11. Connected immediately to my home network with no problems
12. Straight out of the box and was using it in 2 minutes!
13. Slick integrated mouse pad design with lock button – easy to use.
14. Appears to be expandable to 4gb.
Challenges:

1. volume is either controlled by the mouse on the tool bar or by using the function key and a volume key – no slide like other HP laptops
2. no locking mechanism, the screen just folds down but doesn’t latch to the keyboard like others
3. Only one headphone jack, no sharing
4. no docking station port! It will not fit my existing docking station
5. no webcam for those who think it’s on here.
Also includes – 5 in one card reader (not CF cards though), an HDMI port, monitor port, 3 usb ports and the standard ports for ethernet and modems.
All in all, a good value for what I paid for it and even a good value for the current price it’s being sold at. Really only lacks blueray, the docking station port and the webcam to be more flexible but I can do without those things for this price.

Amazon says “Chat face to face with the HP Webcam and mix it up with YouCam’s fun special effects.” but there is no webcam! I bought this to use skype when I’m not home but I have to admit it is still a good deal and my Mother will like it as her christmas gift. I guess I’m still looking for a cheap laptop with webcam

I got this as a black friday deal and im preaty impressed with the laptop. Windows 7 runs great and the keyboard is awsome. I really don’t care for the webcam that much, and for the price paid ($197) you can’t ask for more. Simply a great buy.
