The printer lasted ONE week before it experienced a fatal error. Amazon would not accept my request to return the product. HP said they would send me a refurbished machine upon receipt of the defective one. Amazon did not stand behind the product nor did they honor their return policy. I guess I should pay more attention to “buyer beware”. I will never buy anything larger than coffee and print cartridges from Amazon again.

I’m able to use this from my Macintosh and from windows using Parallels. The only reason I did not give it a 5 star rating is the other reviews that claim it does not receive faxes. I do not use this feature and have not tested it.

I didn’t need a printer.
I didn’t need a fax machine.
I needed to replace a 9 year old (dead) xerox fax machine, that would have been $4k.
What is amazing, is that for the ridiculously low price of this machine, I got an awesome copier. I’m very happy.

Everything works well, but I did have a few issues receiving faxes. Most of the problems seemed to be related to the presence of my answering machine base station attached to the phone port. The fax wouldn’t pick up in TAM mode even though I had left a 4 second gap on my answer so the tone would trigger the pickup. HP said I need to have the “Rings to answer” set to two more than my answering machine, but that still failed. I ended up using the “Distinctive Ring” feature in Fax Receive Setup…After I had added the feature to my phone line through Charter Cable. Now it picks up on the first Double Ring without any problems.
**It’s now May 24, and this printer has had only one issue. I had to restart it yesterday because it wasn’t printing…Not unusual for a Multi-function or a networked printer. Other than that it has been excellent.

This is the worst all-in-one printer known to man kind. We purchased this unit in July, 2009. We use it for business purposes, open twice a week. This unit has already broken down twice in the first three months and HP has given us replacements twice and it’s not even new; they are refurbished machines. The latest HP refurbished unit, can’t even turn the power on, continually shows errors, and does not scan. Our technical team has noticed that HP has decreased in their quality significantly over the past few years. Avoid this company as they are making all their stuff overseas now, they are overpriced, and their customer service can’t solve any problems.
