I bought this laptop for more money about 1 month ago. Since it has dropped in price considerably I am buying a second one for my wife, who always wants to borrow mine. It is great! The screen is LED, which makes it very bright. The Hard drive is small, but remember you are comparing it to a moving hard drive which can be damaged when it is bumped or moved around a lot. This one has a solid state drive. Much more durable and also easier on the battery life. I wish the battery lasted longer, it is a three cell size. But at three hours on low power settings and 2. 25 hrs on high power settings it is not bad. Of course it comes with a nice charger with a long power cord. The trade off of a larger battery is that it would be a little heavier and the battery would stick out a little bit more. I love this keyboard. It is only slightly smaller than a normal full size one. After using it for about an hour I had no issues typing fast and accurately. I use it when sitting on the sofa watching TV, I Google everything. I use it when waiting to pick up my son from school, the wifi reaches into the parking lot. I use it at Panera having lunch, great size again! Also it includes XP, making it very fast for web surfing, email and typing documents, I use the free software suite called “Open Office”. You can download it to your mini for free. My wife will be very happy indeed.

So sweet it will rot your teeth!!
Well at first i was worried about getting this because the space on the hard drive didn’t seem to be enough but i reassured myself that the SSD drive would come in handy…

fits the bill
I wanted a lap top that would fit in my purse & allow me to work during the long hours it seemed to take my kids to eat their lunches & play where wi-fi was available.

I had been looking at the mini laptops with solid state drives for a couple of months and picked up the HP Mini (Netbook) 1115NR a couple of weeks ago. I booted it up, began writing a text file, went online, and then it died. It had been on for about two hours. After some research online I found out that HP rushed this product to market and that the ‘black screen of death’ is a somewhat common problem. The machine will not boot up at all. The power light goes on, but that is it. Basically the flash drive gets corrupt and cannot be accessed. I returned the laptop and got my money back.

HP Mini Netbook (1116NR)
What’s great about it: Easy set up, Small/Light weight, Great Picture, Nice Keyboard, Good sound.
What’s not so great: Finish gets finger prints easy, battery life ok…

I bought the HP Mini about 5 weeks ago. It has had light use since the purchase. Last night I opened it to use it and the “spine” where the screen meets the keyboard had come loose on the end. The computer still worked but I called HP to report the problem and ask for a warranty repair. I was on the phone for 1 hour 56 minutes. I had to convince the HP customer service rep (who I don’t believe had ever seen a netbook) that it was BROKEN. . . that there was nothing we could do over the phone to fix it. They ended up saying I “must have done something to it”. I think it is defective but regardless, the customer service experience on an almost brand new computer was enough to keep me from buying HP products in the future. I wish I’d bought the Acer netbook that my friend recommended.

Ipod Touch vs. Netbook
I have an ipod touch(1st generation) and waited for close to a year for Apple to update it to work with flash.

What more could I want.
It is terrific. It is a netbook. Gets you online and you can do all you need there. Very happy with it.

dont waste your money
The mini Acer (newest one) with a 6 cell battery is a far better choice for a mini over the HP which is really junk compared to the Acer.
