I just received this drive and straight out of the shrinkwrap it had a virus. I noticed a file ru.com in the root directory when I first connected the drive. I figured it was a utility or something, until my antivirus program (Symantec Corporate ed.) popped up a window saying it had found and cleaned a virus in this file. A quick google search revealed that ru.com is in fact a major virus.

i am comparing this product with Western Digital External HDD passport. this product is bulky and it does not have a good design. Personally i did not like it. It looked kind of cheaper than what it costs now. i decided to wait for some time. if the price drops further or if there is an increase in the storage capacity, i will rethink.

I purchased this hard drive by reputation of item by friends and trusted agents but have not yet used this purchase. I understand that I can use this item to back up my DiectTV HD Recorder and wonder if anyone knows how this works and can offer setup instruction…
