I ordered an Iomega unit and Amazon said it was on stock, but I get an email from the actual seller saying that the item is back ordered, and that I have to wait. Needed the item fast so had to call the seller and get a substitute item which arrived much later than when my original order would have been recieved.
Not happy with Amazon on this purchase at all.

I just received the item in the mail. It did not come with the the usb cable. I called the company. I was told that they would send out a cable and a hard drive but would charge me another $59.99. I had to send the first item back. I told them I didn’t want another hard drive just the cable. Needless to say I just sent the item back and will go somewhere else to buy a hard drive. it works OK for general stuff, but doesn’t transfer really large files and therefore doesn’t work well for things like video applications where files are large. Not so much a criticism of this unit, but of all USB drives. Honestly, I’d say that if you have Firewire capability, I’d make sure to get a drive that supports that, no matter what you might be doing…. Faster transfer rates and ability to move larger files around may come in handy.

It was my first attempt with iomega, which will be my last. The hard drive constantly looses it’s connection to my Mac while I’m working on files. How does a product like this get made? I’m a designer and an animator, and I’m using files each day off of the portable. I’ll be working and all of a sudden, the file is disconnected. It’s terribly frustrating to know that each time it happens it brings me closer to loosing important files. The small USB port on the harddrive is not strong enough to even hold the USB cord. I’m out money from the purchase, and my designs are yelling “Don’t you dare put me on that portable!”

The drive looks really good, however its got 2 USB ports!!!! and both have to been connected to the system!!!! I found this pretty weird cuz I have never come across such a thing…but otherwise, nice – GREAT SPEED
