All I can say is that i will never buy any sensitive electronics from Amazon again: The hard drive arrived in a box that I think could have easily fit about 20 identical harddrives. It had almost no padding. If you moved the box around, the hard drive rattled inside. I called Amazon to complain, and they sent me a replacement which was *identically packaged*.
I will not use a hard drive that was “beaten up” all the way to my doorstep. I am afraid it will break down on me 3 weeks later. I went to a local store and paid a few extra dollars to get the same harddrive. Amazon refunded my money after i sent both harddrives back. The bottom line: I wasted valuable time y using Amazon.

I bought this for a Christmas present. It arrived in a typical software paperboard box with the drive basically exposed in the BIG shipping box. The shipping box it was sent in was 5x bigger then the drive. No innerpak. It rattled in the box from florida to South Dakota like a marble. I wouldn’t even consider using it considering all drives are somewhat fragile.Amazon has been good in the past and this was shipped out of XP passport inc. Cearwater,Florida FOR Amazon. I’ll buy it elsewhere.

“Gets power from the USB bus so no extra adapter is required.”
This is a lie! This battery sucks so much juice “5amps” that it won’t work on my netbook. IT EVEN HAS A SECOND USB PLUG TO DRAW POWER THAT DOESN”T WORK!!!
WHY WOULD YOU DESIGN A RUGGED MOBILE HARD DRIVE THAT ONLY WORKS ON DESKTOPS AND 10LB LAPTOPS!
If I wanted a plug in hard drive I would’ve bought one.
It’s transfer speeds on firewire 400 are also horribly slow.

Broke after a month, won’t mount. Lost all of my data and now the lacie support team is running having me run in circles. Worst hard drive experience. Don’t buy this product.
