I receieved this hard drive with much anticipation. It worked well and installed easily with the first hook up. It started sputtering and making noise upon the second hook up. I called La Cie and they tried to walk me through it and told me that I had a corrupt hard drive. I am expecting a second one from Amazon in a week.

This is my second Lacie d2 in a year. #2 just died and now I have 2 door stops.

The drives just flat-out stop working and the computer cannot find it. The first one’s fan started making a lot of noise then it died. The second one lasted about 6 weeks and died.

These drives are 100% crap. I wouldn’t have another one if they gave it to me.

I bought my d2 quadra 500GB 11-2007. It is the model with no ridges.

It looks great, feels sturdy but isn't that quiet. Sometimes it is loud & sometimes moderate. I had called LaCie & they said the noise was normal. It runs warm but not hot. It worked great with Mac Time Machine. From 11-2007 till a few days ago.

It just quit. So 15-16 months of use. Light works but Mac won't recognize it. Will not appear in Disk Utility either. I tried 2 other cables; FW800, FW400 & USB & still no joy.

It is still under warranty. I'm not sure I want to send all my personal backed up data into LaCie. I may want to try another brand.

This was the first time I went for a LACIE product. I wanted a really good external HD for TIME MACHINE in my Imac. Just out of the box, we started with the wrong foot. I’m getting a blinking blue light with no response at all. Never appeared on Finder. Called Customer Service and spent hours on the phone with no answer. Googled “lacie blinking blue light” and realized it was the power adapter that came faulty. If the drive works, I really don’t know! But one thing is certain, I won ‘t purchase any LACIE product ever again.

UPDATE:

Amazon must have seen my complaint and I received this in record time. Thank you Amazon! 5 stars if this drive is as good as all my other Lacie drives.

This is a deceiving item listing… as all Lacie drives appear to not be available for next day shiping – When you go to order this if you look closely, they will add an additional day on the shipping. When you call customer service they say that they are “not readily available from the warehouse”. The main reason I use Amazon is for the quick shipping. This item should not be listed as “in stock”.
