First off this laptop is beautiful, It’s solidly built, the HDD cover on the bottom was a little shaky, It didn’t look like it’s fixed properly so I tried removing it and placing it back and it was fine.
The WiMax works but I can’t really use it since I don’t have it around where I live yet, boot speed is fairly good, it has a software called lenovo onekey recovery that enables you to create a recovery CD (four 4.7 GB dvd’s), after creating an image of the whole system it starts burning the recovery CD’s, it’s always good to have those just in case, and because I’m planning on replacing the Hard Drive, I would have settled for 250 or even 160 Gb of hard drive space for the same price if it had a 7200 rpm speed instead of the 5400, it really makes a huge difference, it also has an external key right above the power button which can be used to repair/recover windows.
The speakers are great,in fact they are the best thing about this laptop, you can really feel the subwoofer when listening to music, it kind of eliminates the need for external speakers (works great for me), plus it has an orange colored volume control key on the right side which is easy to access.
the screen looks good with bright cool colors and a clearly visible border, I don’t know why lenovo described it as bordrless, camera is 1.3 MP with good images and video for the resolution.
keyboard has a good feel to it, you really have to press a little harder than usual to get anything typed, some people like that.
The battery lasted for 3+ hours in the balanced power setting, it has two charge level indicators one is under the screen and the other is at the back.
It also has 3 usb ports, a fire wire and HDMI ports, a memory card reader, an infared port, an expansion slot, an ethernet and modem inputs which are all located at the sides of the body, because of the way it’s designed, there are no ports at the back.
I took out one star from the rating because of the 5400 rpm hard drive and the lack of a built in bluetooth.
Overall very happy with it.
