Product Description
The Dual-Band Wireless-N Gaming Adapter gives wireless connection capabilities to any wired Ethernet-equipped game console. The Game Adapter can be used in several different ways. If you have an existing home wireless network and a cable or DSL Internet connection, the Game Adapter lets your Xbox, Xbox 360, PlayStation2 or 3, or GameCube attach to the network so you can get into online games without running wires to the game room. Or, use a pair of Game Adapters to form a “cable-less cable” between two game consoles for head-to-head gaming — in the same room, or all the way across the house. Every Linksys product I have ever purchased has worked perfectly and seamlessly, that is until now. I am sure it is because it is because it is connected to a evil Microsoft product (X box 360). Neither Microsoft nor Linksys support was interested in helping me make these devices interconnect. If it wasn’t that my kids want to game online with their X box I wouldn’t even try. I will try to sell this device on eBay (I am sure it will work fine with ANY non Microsoft product) and by the proprietary Microsoft hardware.

The Linksys WGA600N does not connect at Wireless-N speeds even to their own equipment (I tried a Linksys WRT350N). I would wait until they update their firmware which is currently 1.0.0. They probably rushed this product out for CES ‘08 before it was really ready.

I received the adapter but can’t get a computer to read the setup disc. I have tried on one Dell computer running Windows XP Media Edition and then tried it on my work computer running Windows XP Professional. When neither computer could read the disc, I tried downloading the setup application from Linksys. Apparently the setup file is an RAR file which neither computer has an application to run it. Its seems kind of weird that Linksys would provide such a disc if it takes a special application to make it work. However nobody else has complained about this problem so it must be unique to me.

I got it to work but not for Media Center. It’s true I haven’t tried with the latest firmware release and with Windows 7, but I doubt there are any changes. If you don’t use Media center then go ahead.
