Excellent value for money
I use these speakers for about 4 weeks now and I found them to be very good. They give clear and soft sound.

Logitech Z-4 Speaker – Brilliant.
What a brilliant buy. Came in it’s packaging soon enough, nice and heavy which is always a good sign.

Great sound considering on PC speakers
Have been using a 5.1 Creative set for last 6 years which came as a package with a PC. Thought I would get something new, but was not bothered with 5.1.

A few niggles but still good.
Maybe this review is going to be a bit biased as I have been using my HiFi as my computer speakers for some time now and though it does have a sub it isn’t the most powerful,…

Good – not amazing.
I got these for my 19″ Toshiba TV as it never sounded too great. I wasn’t disapointed. VERY easy to set up and operate, no extra leads required.

Great speakers, especially for the price, with good sound reproduction across music, TV, films and games. I would say the bass control is definately worth the extra cost over models that omit this feature as it allows for much greater versatility. For instance, you don’t always want rumbling bass if your just watching the news but its nice to have the option with a film or music. The setup is nice looking but simple enough to be considered fairly discreet, especially the sub which is compact but effective. Overall I have been impressed with the package and would be nit-picking to suggest any improvements.

I was looking for some speakers for my desk which could provide a richer sound and also fill the room when I’m not sat at the desk. I’d been recommended the Logitech x-230 speakers and heard them for myself. I’d also seen the scores of rave reviews for them here on Amazon but I wondered if there might be a later model which improves on that design. A review I found on the net said that the Z4 speakers were slightly better and more detailed than the x-230 so decided to check them out. I’ve always been prejudiced against 2. 1 systems with little satellite speakers expecting them to always sound harsh but having read all the rave reviews on here I decided it was worth the gamble especially when I found them at a bargain price. But, my prejudices were proved valid. You can get a nice rich and deep bass, far deeper and thumpier than is reasonable but at least with the Z4 you can set the bass to zero if you so desire. However the upper middle frequencies are very strident and the lower middle frequences somewhat lacking, resulting in a very unbalanced sound. You get deep bass, harsh upper middle and not much inbetween. Fortunately I had a graphic equaliser which I was able to put between the audio source and the speakers, allowing me to tame the worst of the harshness and create a smoother richer sound, however you can never fully compensate for the limitations of the speakers. As you move around the room the upper middle frequencies are always slightly too strident even if you get it sounding just right sitting in one spot. I can’t help but wonder why Logitech didn’t include a bit of circuitry to compensate for the harshness of the frequency output but maybe that would have made them too expensive for the target market of the Z4. The controls and extra line in are very handy and they have a very nice build quality and take up very little space. So yes, they are loud with no distortion and will fill the room with sound but if you’re expecting a genuine hi-fi sound or even a vague approximation of one then I don’t recommend these speakers. I know they don’t claim to be audiophile speakers but reading some of the reviews on here you might be fooled into thinking they are.

Well, just received this 2. 1 set today after only a 4 day wait for delivery. Straight out of the box, I noticed that the satellite speakers were a tad larger than I expected (are as wide as a 5 pound note) and although pretty sleak, were not nearly as good looking as my previous creative 3300 set (stolen last term! now discontinued). However,I was pleased with the square subwoofer that is smaller than most in this category but was still able to pack a punch. After an easy installation, I have so far been very impressed with the sound quality. More power than you will EVER need and did not distort the sound at all when blasted through the complex. Apart from above average treble, what has most impressed me is the incredibly crisp base from the sub that really stands out with any good base line (especially jazz). I have been accustomed to “muddy” base (not the technical term) when at high volumes but this sub remains in the clear. Overall, not the most stylish set of speakers (still good looking though, don’t be dissuaded!) but impressive in sound quality and superb bass. Also comes with a rather bulky dial that is great for adjusting volume/bass. Highly recommend!!Aside: For the 2. 1 category, focus on signal to noise ratio and less on pure output RMS power. Every setup will have enough juice to easily fill a room or two. Focus on SNR to target sound quality!
