This 2.1 speaker set is okay, but not as good as some more expensive 2.0 speaker sets that lack a subwoofer. If I had to choose between this compact 3 piece set and a slightly more expensive 2 piece set, I would definitely go for something like the Klipsch 2.0 speakers, or the Bose Companion II speakers, which are heavier and can produce a more substantial sound.
From the moment I opened the box and took out the speakers and subwoofer, I was wary. Most subwoofers alone are larger than the box the whole set came in. When I held the speakers, I could barely feel them in my hands, they were so light. I was doubtful the set could produce a full, rich sound.
This set is advertised as a “compact” solution with a subwoofer that can fit anywhere. That may be true, but the compactness comes with trade-offs. You are not going to true “room-filling” sound with these (unless you are putting them in a small bedroom or something). And there are no knobs on the subwoofer, so you can’t control the level of bass that is pumped out. Then again, it doesn’t produce a whole lot of thumping bass in the first place, so I suppose knobs are unnecessary.
That said, the sound is much fuller than many other similarly light speakers, so I guess if you are looking for a lightweight, compact set that, you will be happy with these. They are certainly adequate. But I recommend you pay a little more and get a good 2-speaker solution.

Logitech delivers what it promises, and the speakers are easy to install, adaptable to one’s computer or CD/DVD player, and simple to operate. However, I did not find the sound quality to be exceptional. It was on a par with my older speakers (which also are in the ‘economical’ category). Overall, I would rate this item as average.

These speakers provide great sound with a minimalistic system. 2 speakers + 1 sub woofer. For being a clean and small setup that can easily be installed at a desk without adding much clutter, this is a great choice for some really nice sound!
The left and right speakers are really nice speakers. They provide a good range of sound that does indeed seem to “fill the room”. I do not get the feeling that I have sound coming from two small pin-point locations. Definitely a better experience without having to try and install satellite speakers behind me.
Most of the depth in the sound comes from the sub woofer. It delivers a good, strong bass. At times, it seems a bit too strong for what I would expect, but I have it placed on the other side of my monitor instead of behind a desk or other farther location. I believe this is throwing off the balance. It might have been nice to have a bass level control on the unit itself to better balance them depending on placement since the whole system will only be configurable by your OS as stereo speakers. It’s compact size is also very handy. I like how it is taller, and slender. It tucks away nicely.
Wiring was very easy to set up. You have a stereo speaker cable that plugs into your computer and goes to the wired control (6 ft). The control has a power on/off and volume control, plus your headphone jack on it. From the control unit, you have a cable connected to the back of the sub woofer (6 ft). The cables on the control and sub woofer are fixed, and can not be disconnected. The sub woofer has a stereo audio jack as well, and a power chord (5 ft, polarized, not grounded). The left/right speaker wires consist of a stereo 3.5 mm plug with 2 heavy speaker wires coming from it. The first 8 inches are joined together, then it splits into separate wires (6 ft, if you count the first 8 inches). Of course, I rounded most of these measurements up by an inch or 2 to complete the full feet.
I like the left/right speakers. In this setup, one could use an alternate set of speakers on it if desired. I would not recommend it though. The headphone connector on the controller is very handy. One of the things I really like is the fact that when I connect my headphones to the system, it is not overly loud. It does indeed seem louder, but not on the level I am used to when switching between other speakers and my headphones.
The sound is excellent, and if you are looking for a good set of speakers, but do not want to go with a 5.1 or other larger surround sound system, this is a very good 2.1 stereo system. They look great with their matte black finish, and silver accents.

The sound is great, very loud, very clear, we use it primarily for movies but they’re good enough to use for music as well.
The convenience is where it shines, it has a little wired module, like an old wired remote, with power and volume controls, and most important, a headphone jack, so that if you use headphones with it you have plenty of room to move your head without yanking on the wires.
We like being able to control volume and power remotely, and we really like the sound, and the ease of set up. When we’re ready to watch a movie, even the youngest of the kids can get the speaker system out and hook it up.
It’s a nice system, when combined with our projector, screen, and laptop we have a very nice home theater system that’s also very portable and doesn’t take up much space in our home. We don’t sacrifice a bit of quality and our home theater is always ready to go in any room of the house, or even outdoors or on trips. The size, versatility and quality of these speakers is a key component in that.

I have both this speaker system and the Altec Lansing VS26212.1 Speaker System. I will use this review as a comparison between the two systems. Hopefully that will you a good idea of relative strengths and weaknesses of this Logitech system.
This system’s PROS:
1. This system is fairly attractive looking to have on display; both the speakers and subwoofer.
2. The wire that runs from the subwoofer to the speakers in just a stereo headphone cable, which is terrific, since it means you have the flexibility to extend it (however see CON 4 also).
3. I love the fact that the power button is on a little wired remote control device with the volume control also. (The Altec Lansing system has the power switch on the back of the subwoofer and the volume control on the right speaker.)
This system’s CONS:
1. There are no equalization controls whatsoever, not even subwoofer controls. That means that you are stuck with the EQ settings from the factory, like it or not. (see CON 2)
2. I don’t like the sound… When the volume is down, there is very little bass, so it sounds tinny and too high-frequency weighted. When turned up loud, the bass is better, but still too much high and not even low for me.
3. There just isn’t enough amplification to get very loud. The loudest setting isn’t impressive, especially when compared to the comparable Altec Lansing system. There is a noticeable difference in volume when switching the headphone jack from system to system.
4. The way the wires run, you don’t have a whole lot of length for the farthest speaker from the subwoofer. Uniquely from the systems I’ve seen, this has a stereo headphone cable from the subwoofer that directly splits to each speaker. Many computer speaker systems will have a cable going to the right speaker, then the left speaker plugs into the right speaker, giving lots of flexibility in putting the left speaker far from the subwoofer. Since you could extend this with a common cable, it isn’t a terrible thing.
What I care the most is the sound quality and the “boom.” This system doesn’t have either that is up to my expectations.
