I recently bought this item from amazon, not really paying much mind to the horrible packaging and shipping i’d heard amazon was notorious for with this type of media.
To my somewhat surprise the rumors were all true, when i received the product the casing was broken, the top part had a break in the side and the bottom part’s center bar was broken, however at least the DVD-R’s themselves were fine.
The DVD-R’s themselves are in my personal opinion the best on the market, i’ve never had a bad burn with maxwell DVD-R’s, in all honesty i have not and most likely will not buy another brand as long as they continue to make DVD-R’s, the quality is pretty much the best you can get.
That said i’d only suggest buying them from amazon if you can’t find a better deal, otherwise stay away.
I gave it 4 stars because they did arrive on time, and the DVD-R’s were fine, however the condition of the casing tells me it isn’t and most likely won’t be packed well in future sales.

I haven’t been able to find Maxell DVD-R’s anywhere anymore, so had to purchase them here. I have to say, I’m really disappointed in how Amazon packed them. They were rolling around inside the box with almost no padding whatsoever. I was very surprised they did that. Fortunately, they arrived unbroken, even with the rolling and banging around. These tapes are great. They have played in every DVD recorder and player we have, unlike Panasonic tapes and other brands. They play in our Sony and our Panasonic, in our computers, etc. No other DVDs we’ve purchased have done that. The quality of the pictures I’ve been getting on them is also great, BTW. I’ve been digitizing family movies, etc., and they are great.

The Maxell DVD-Rs work really well for me — no coasters. I use them for data/photo backups mainly. I save all my old spindle units because Amazon refuses to package this item properly and the spindle always arrives broken so I fish out the DVDs and put them on one of my saved spindles that I have. How hard could it be to put the packing all around this item so the shipping gorrilas couldn’t break it? Come on Amazon, you do so many things well try to get this problem solved!
Terrific price, product but really poor packaging!!

I have been customer of Amazon over 5 years, every their product is good quality, Amazon quickly replaces item when I notify them (rarely I got bad quality product, it’s about 1% of bad one).
One more time this is a second of excellent DVD-R of Maxell brand name I have used so far.

These DVDs are of the best quality and I have used over 300 of them with only one or two that wouldn’t cooperate. I tried Memorex and had several bad disks in a 30 pack. Amazon has improved it’s packing and the case of disks came through unscathed.
