Despite some of the reviews stating that Moshi Cleargurad would make typing difficult, I ordered. Since installing the Clearguard, I haven’t had the slightest problem typing. This item works as described by the manufacturer.

I recently bought a Macbook Pro Unibody 13 inch and I was worried about getting spills on it. After extensive research I found this product and bought it. It came with the best reviews of fit, dexterity and aesthetic appeal. They were all right! I love it – it’s very thin and fits my keyboard perfectly. The key covers of the top bar are a little big but it’s not a big deal at all. I’ve been typing on this for less than five minutes and I’m already used to the feel of the Moshi clearguard. I’ll have see how it works with the backlight later in the evening.

As my title implies, “not a perfect fit but does the job”. Reviews were right about F keys and space bar not really lining up perfectly. You’d have to press a bit harder when typing. But if you want to maintain your keyboard then this is a must have. All in all good.

I have been using it a few weeks. After I got used to it (after a couple of days), it seemed great, and a definite keeper. I dislike the slickness of the MacBook’s keys, so the Moshi gives them a little bit of tackiness, which I like.
However, having said that, today I burned a DVD for the first time, and was alarmed at how hot the keyboard area got. Clearly, this keyboard is designed to vent heat, and the Moshi blocks this function.
Secondly, I just happened to lift it off while playing some audio and as we all know, the Macbook has audio that does not play loud enough even at max. What did I find? The audio (i.e. the speakers) must be designed to direct sound through the keyboard as well, because it was obvious that the Moshi has been significantly muffling the sound all this time. Given how low the volume on the MacBook is, anything that lowers the volume further still is NOT cool (pardon the pun).
So, as much as I like the Moshi to type on, and for the protection, I’m now left to wonder if it isn’t doing more harm than good (and perhaps MUCH harm) to that which it’s designed to help protect.
I have searched the internet and somehow I was unable to find anyone else’s mention the muffling of the audio due to the Moshi (or any other keyboard skin) and also the heat issue during intensive, lengthier CPU activities like recoding video.
I am not sure if I should continue using the Moshi now, and this makes me sad.

I took my chances after reading the good reviews, in spite of the price. I’m not disappointed at all. It’s really thin, almost perfect clear and quite easy to get used to. After almost a month of dust, I believe this is the best option to really protect my MacBook Pro. It’s a great investment, considering the risks of letting all that dust getting into the computer.
