Overall, I like the Moshi PalmGuard, but I think based on its not-so-cheap-for-a-piece-of-plastic status, it could use some work. Application was fairly easy, however I found that the strip above the trackpad when installing it from the bottom up (as they suggest) got a bit of a buckle in it. I was able to adjust it carefully and get it to adhere, but it did come up one more time an hour later. Once this is in place, I’d suggest really pushing hard all around to ensure proper adhesion. Much easier to install than a screen protector though, that’s for sure.
The trackpad protector works well, and allows all finger gestures, but I’d like it to be a smoother texture. It’s not quite as silky smooth as the uncovered surface, and takes a little getting used to. The other problem I noticed, and honestly just wasn’t prepared for due to the nature of the palmrest cover, was the presence of air bubbles. So word to the wise: imagine the trackpad cover is a screen protector and really try carefully to avoid trapping air. I’ll give this a little more time, but the trackpad cover may have to come off soon. I’d rather have paid less for the palmrest cover and not had the trackpad cover bundled with it.
UPDATE: Within hours of posting this, of course the band running along the top of the trackpad is now perpetually buckling up and not adhering properly. The surface was prepared before application to get rid of any grease or dust, but this thing is just not adhering properly in that area, especially when the battery is charging and the surface becomes warm. I have contacted Moshi’s customer service, so hopefully they address this problem soon.

Easy to apply, comes off without leaving any residue behind! It takes a bit to get used to the feel (it’s a tad rougher than the MBP aluminum) but once ou do, it’s amazing!

I am so glad that I bought this product. Moshi really makes great, high quality items. They apply very easily in seconds, can be removed and reapplied with no fuss or residue, and it blends in well with the aluminum of the unibody model. I was a little bit worried that the trackpad cover would decrease usability but I have not had any problems with it at all, even when using the special features like pinch, 2 finger scroll, three finger scroll, etc… If you want to protect your mac from dirt, oil, and scratches then you should definitely invest in this product.

While admittedly, I had the slightest trouble applying the palmguard to my 15″ MBP, I completely back this product to other Macbook users. The feel and look of the palmguard is very smooth to the touch, and blends right in to my MB’s face. I’m not sure if it was just me or what, but the palmguard was sliiightly off of the mouse pad, like the tiniest of amounts. No amount of refitting really lined it up perfectly, but in retrospect, you can’t even tell that it isn’t a perfect fit unless your face is two inches away from the pad…
So bottom line; this is a very great product that does its job, and I am very enthusiastic about my purchase. Gooooo MOSHI!!!

The mochi palmrest guard is a decently thick piece of soft plastic. I was pleasantly surprised by the thickness since it provides some rigidity to the product and made installation easier. I had no problems positioning the product. I was able to lightly position the product over the middle of the palm rest area. After several attempts, there was no hint of residual stickiness. The fit is nearly perfect with less than a millimeter of unprotected surface around the trackpad. So far, I do not have the issue of the buckling up of the product at the top or bottom of the trackpad.
The color is a near match for the 2010 unibody. For those looking for a perfect match, the color seems a little darker and, of course, not as shiny as the aluminum of the unibody.
My only complaint (more like a wish) is that the product extended the protection down the side of the palm rest area, too. I know I wore down the finish along front edge of my Powerbook G4, and this product wasn’t designed to protect that area of unibody.
I did not install the trackpad protector since the feel of the plastic doesn’t seem to work for gliding and sliding. The feel of the protector is great for the palm rest.
