I understand that everyone has the right to freedom of speech, but what about common human decency? I’m a fan of morbid humour, but when you are making fun of killing an innocent creature, I think it has gone too far. Would NP have released this cover if the gun were being held to the head of a baby or a racial minority? I’m not talking about politically correct humour. I am merely saying that it is unfortunate that NP has not only included this front cover image, but the back cover clearly indicates that the threat has been carried out. It’s not about being tasteful. It’s about actually crossing a line into cruelty. So, this product sucks and it insults the intelligence and the level of humor of NP fans.

This collection takes me back to high school in the 70’s. I read every issue of National Lampoon magazine during those years. It was the only source for humor. Sadly they could not publish that magazine in today’s politically correct atmosphere. See what funny is and get this collection!

Hard to beat every issue of the National Lampoon. Granted, some of the them are pretty awful, but as a one time subscriber, it’s nice to read the classics again without having to hunt them down at flea markets, antique shows and off Ebay. A pretty small price to pay for some classic comedy.

This collection of National Lampoon issues is just great! ! ! I find myself laughing out loud as I read the various articles and parodies. These are the actual pages of the magazine.

My wife gave me this for Christmas 2009 and it was my hands-down winner for that year!
Took me right back to my teens — the material is just as funny now, plus the old ads are a riot. BTW, NL was definitely a sexist guy thing, like True Magazine from a generation earlier (somebody please do a PDF collection of that too!)
Image quality is actually pretty good for something like this; I have a CD-ROM set of National Geographic that is much lower res than this one. Reading on a PC sucks, but it’s way better than trying to deal with boxes of old magazines. I rather like the menus, since I also tend to remember articles by what their covers looked like.
The current retail price is an excellent value, and used copies are an absolute steal!
