These headphones put a lot of pressure on my ears. The top arc was extended half way to a perfect fit, but after wearing 10 minutes both sides of my head got sore.
The USB sound card showed up as stereo, and for some reason the only sound I could here was Vista’s test beeps. Sound from WMP, firefox, and left4dead did not work. I tried checking out the help page, but it wasn’t much help either. Bad hardware or software, I do not know. I think USB sound in general is a bad idea. Stick with your sound cards.
One thing I did like was the folding microphone concept.
Next try, the Logitech G35 headphones. also USB…

The Plantronics GameCom 777 Surround Sound Gaming Headset has a few things going for it, but comfort and ease of set-up are not among them. After working in radio for many years, wearing headphones for hours per day, you learn quickly what does and doesn’t work. As far as comfort goes, these simply don’t work.
Now I’ll be the first to admit it can’t be easy to design a pair of truly comfortable over the ear headphones (in broadcasting we call them cans). There are many things to consider; from variations in the user’s ears and head width, to depth of cushioning, etc.
I find the 777s to be too tight and the interior space of each ear piece to small. The result is a headphone that feels bad right from the start and only gets worses the longer you wear it.
As far as set-up goes the 777 is a train wreck. No instructions, and a very hit ans miss driver. Sometimes the computer recognizes it, sometimes not.
Once installed, the mic on the headset does it’s job. but is nothing special.
The one truly redeeming factor for this product is the sound. While there is of course no way to create a true surround sound experience with a headphone, I found the 777s to have good full drive, plenty of base and a pretty crisp high-end.

I recently bought a set of sennheiser’s with a mic and started using them.
At first it was great, my voice was clear and it was a big improvement over having an USB mic laying around to talk, but after 1-2 hours it would seriously hurt my ear due to the small shape.
This could not go on so I choose this headset.
To start with I did not like this headset so much, when you first put the phones on your head it’s as though they put your head in a vacuum.
They are very tight fitting. One benefit to this though, is that you get much better bass response (much more so than with any other set of headphones I own).
After a couple of hours of wearing the phones, the discomfort seems to subside and you don’t really notice you’re wearing the headphones. I have worn them for over 4 hours at a time.
The mic is great, I’m clear, and it seems to give me a nice rich sound.
Before I end this review I should talk about the quality of the components.
This set of headphones is first rate in every aspect, from construction to design. The cord is very high quality (no way you can accidentally break it or anything (less you “accidentally” cut it with scissors), the pad at the top is nice, and the phones are quite comfortable.
One thing (a warning) to keep in mind is, when you’re using this headphones, make sure you keep the volume low on the volume mic, otherwise you will experience buzzing when listening to music or any kind of sound that has a lot of bass, turning the volume down on the headset, while turning it up on your device, makes the buzzing go away and you just get that rich sound.
Bottom line, for less than 100 dollars, these can’t be beat (Amazon prices, not retail prices). I have tried several pairs from different companies, most all of them cost more than this pair, yet this pair out performs them.
The only complaint I have against this phones is the compression effect you get when you put them on your head, but after a while you do get used to it and no longer notice it.
If you’re wanting a set of headphones that have a built in mic, you can’t do much better than this. Added bonus is, you can hide the mic in the phones so they are not clashing around (which is a nice feature) you can also extend the boom.

EDIT2: Ok now that I finally got the headset I feel I can actually give it a review. As I said before I have used this headset several times at a friends house and I loved it so I bought a pair. Now that I own a pair I can’t express how glad I am that I got it. The simulated 5.1 digital surround sound is amazing, I finally got to try it with a movie and it sounded wonderful. I do alot of gaming and will say the sound quality of the mic is great and I like being able to hide it away when I dont want to use it another plus is that there is a mute switch on the headset so you can easily mute your mic. This is probably the most comfortable headset/headphones I have ever used, I almost dont notice them at times. I used this on both my Macbook and my custom built PC with windows XP. Both were able to find the headset instantly and it was ready to go in under a minute. One thing I will note is that under all of my linux distros this headset didn’t work well with some games when using the USB SoundCard. There was some feed back and such if I used the USB soundcard in any linux distro I used. (Ubuntu, slackware, puppy dog linux, gentoo) Although it worked fine if I didn’t use the USB soundcard. Anyways overall I give this headset 5 stars despite my 3 star rating which was for Amazon and there shipping problems.. read on if you want to know about that whole thing.
Just warning below:
I have used this headset before a few times at my friends house! It was such a nice headset decided to buy it on December 23rd 2008 and its been 3 weeks or so and it still has yet to ship. Even though the page says the headphones are in stock, as of January 15th 2009 they don’t seem to be shipping and Amazon will not update this page to let people know that these are not in stock. I am only buying them from Amazon because this is the cheapest place to buy this headset but if you can find a price as good as this buy the headset from somewhere else as Amazon will not ship this due to their supplier being “out of stock” which is most likely bs. So this is just a warning to everyone who wants to buy this from Amazon that this item has yet to ship for me, its been 3 weeks+ and I have bought several items before from amazon and never had this problem.
EDIT: Update My headset is finally shipping and is expected to be here by Wednesday. Just 2 days short of a month wait.

I mostly use this for online gaming and voice conferencing, but it handles sound superbly. The THX surround sound is unneeded, but adds a certain sense of aliveness to the listening experience. Plug and Play set up is easy, but you have to go into your sound settings to change your sound input and output to the GameCom 777. Other than that, it’s lasting well (bass could be a tad beefier, but oh well).
