I give it three stars, because it has worked for over a year now. Would not buy one now, because Plenio does not make updated maps available, so maps are over a year old. As a result, it can not find any new streets or addresses. In addition, the rechargable battery lasted about six months. I now have to plug it in whenever I want to use it now. I will not buy another Plenio product, because the product support (maps and operating system updates) is poor. I suppose that's why the cost of the product is low.

1. It doesn't have text to speech (knew before buying.. so can't complain on that)
2. It doesn't receive signal fast, and when it does..it doesn't recognize where you are.. keeps on pointing to where u last stopped navigation
3. Keeps on hangs up... and only way to release it is by 'reset'
4. Doesn't recognize some streets.
5. Impossible to see the screen in sunlight

Returned mine..after it hung up and I reset it and I could never start it again.. I do not recommend buying it!!!!!

Where do I begin? The POI is lacking and outdated, upgrade map is not available, short battery life (less than an hour), screen is not the brightest. However, knowing all that, I purchase one anyway because the price I found was too good to pass up last year (well under $100) since I know I can add application to make it a more powerful device. This is because it runs on WinCE OS (not to be confused with WiMobile OS on mobile phones/PDA) and the software are right on the 1GB SD card. Just buy another a 2GB (under $10), copied the 1GB SD card to it and have fun customizing it the way you like. You can start by search for the phrase "plenio VXA-4300 wince forum" on your favorite Search Engine for more information. Just a warning, this is really for those who like to tinker with technical things, aka IT guy/geek.
