PNY Optima MD4096KD2-800 4GB 2×2GB Dual Channel Kit DDR2 800 MHz CL 5-5-5-15 PC2-6400 Desktop DIMM Memory Module This is not a review of the product but concerning advertising practice with respect to this type of product. I bought these for my Gateway desktop hoping to upgrade my memory from only 512K. To my regret I didn’t realize until I opened the package that DDR memory is incompatible with DDR2. There is no warning anywhere about this until you open the product. I consider that deceptive. The warning should be on the outside of the package not the inside. I made no attempt to install them as I found out too late they will not fit my computer. Had the warning been obvious I would not have opened the package and could simply have returned it for a refund. I’m learning the hard way the necessity of making absolutely sure a part is compatible when ordering through the internet.

Do not take for wrong this title… the RAM memory works fine but…. I bought it to increase to 3 GB my RAM memory (2 GB already installed). My MSI motherboard includes 4 RAM slots.. there is the problem. You have to “pair” (1×1 or 2×2) otherwise you get conflicts… mine didn’t worked my wireless WIFI card. Running Windows Vista x32 bits version did not recognize 4 GB’s so adding another one of this did not resolve the problem. Just unistalled it and everything works fine again. Just sold it to a friend for brand new computer and works fine. By the way.. no clock numbers are listed.

I purchased this memory because of the price savings. During an upgrade project, I coupled this memory with a new Foxconn motherboard and an AMD Windsor 2.4ghz cpu left over from another upgrade. After completing the build, the system would not post. Systematically reducing and swapping parts, I discovered that one of the PNY sticks was defective. I can’t remember the last time that a memory module was defective. Having used PNY for memory sticks and cards, I just assumed the computer memory would be without problems. I will stay with the other brands that are more popular with system builders.
With the above stated, although I was not happy with this product, I was extremely happy with the way Amazon’s customer support handled my return. I was really impressed with the RMA process and for that reason alone, I would recommend that you can shop on Amazon with confidence.

Like my title says, the memory doesn’t work with any other 6400 (800 MHz) memory except for Acer. Not a huge problem but very miss leading when you looking at the specs. The memory module does run somewhat hot, but so does every 6400 memory module. I been running my comp with this memory for two weeks now, no problems.

My comp had 2 gb ram and i needed an upgrade.
I bought this 4gb ram from amazon and it’s working as it should be.
However, in my bios it says 677mhz instead of 800mhz as what the product suppose to be. Im not that picky but might be important for some users.
