I bought these speakers less than a week ago so they have not been broken in yet. I listened to them at the Austin area Frye’s as they are configured in the home theater room. I believe the higher end CS center channel was used as well as the larger $299 subwoofer (all Polk). I don’t recall the rear channel speakers. That said, these sounded great!
Now that I have them at home with my receiver (5 x 100 watts/channel), I can tell that I need a subwoofer. Also, don’t leave them on the floor because they will not sound good.
The cabinet is well constructed cherry veneer. The highs sound natural and not tinny. Right now I use my Ipod primarily as music source fed through reciever (Onkyo cradle).
Overall, very good sounding speaker and great look for my apartment. You don’t have to turn them up very much and the sound just carries throughout the apartment at a very good volume.
I’ll provide a better commentary in a week when I go back to pick up the cherry PSW-10 sub.

Ordered from Amazon and speakers arrived promptly as advertised. Did lots of shopping and Amazon price was very competitive to go with their very good communication on order information and shipping details. I’m using the speakers as rear surround and they really enhance our Home Entertainment system.

I researched bookshelf speakers for two months. I wanted a speaker that would fill the room with clean, rich sound for all types of music, especially jazz, classical, bluegrass, and rock. Everything sounds great on these speakers. I had Boston Acoustic floor speakers. I still love the the BAs, but I have not lost anything with the Polk and I have gained space. The speakers sit on top of a bookcase, about 6′ off the ground, in a 14′ x 14′ room. I could not be happier.

I received these speakers about a week ago and have to say, they sound amazing! They are built of quality materials and feel very sturdy. I originally wanted the cherry wood but was afraid it wouldn’t match our other furniture, I’m glad I chose the black. My Onkyo 607 had the optional bi-amping for these speakers so I removed the gold connecting bar and utilized this option. I was torn between these and the A3’s, I’m glad I chose these because I can’t imagine the sound and clarity being any better.
I highly recommend these speakers to anyone wanting a serious home theater sound for a descent price!

I’ve owned these speakers for almost 6 months now and am very satisfied. Be patient when first listening to them, as I found there is a definite break-in period. After about a month they really sounded much better, a marked improvement could be heard over that time period.
I have them matched with a pair of old Bose bookshelves, as those were my main speakers until I got the RTI A1s. I’m now looking for a matching subwoofer and center channel.
Could anyone recommend a good center channel. I’m looking at the Polk CS-10, even though Polk recommends the much more expensive CSi A4 (or A6) to go with the RTI series. Anyone have experience with either of these center channels?
