I just purchased Rosetta Stone French the other day. I had to come back here to write a review on it. For one reason is before I bought it I read some clowns review on it here that was totally negative against it. Saying it was tedious and all this. He said something about how you won’t be using what they teach you like the boy is under the plane. Of course you will use all of that. You might not see a boy under a plane but you might see a cat under the table while your new French wife is looking for the cat. Please who are you working for? One of the companies that wrote How to learn French in 10 days or your money back? lol. As God as my witness I just started it and I see the quality in their techniques with immersion. They have various exercises. One core learning exercise I think and others. But it works on your mind in a very effective way. I feel I am gaining some knowledge from my second day now. Sure I don’t know much but I see the pattern they are working with. Building a foundation. A couple exercises where I had to spell it out or type something I wasn’t there yet but I clicked for the answers building my mind. I didn’t beat myself up for it since I am just starting. I am not under a gun on this. I don’t have a professor hounding me on my cognizance. All in good time. This will be like a hobby to me I think. A mind game. A confidence builder. If you like video games or crossword puzzles. Anything that intrigues you then learn a language. Sure it is early for me to praise this to the sky but I see what I purchased is valuable. And I know I will succeed. I bought it since I met a beautiful woman from Morocco online. I am in an online relationship with her now. She speaks Arabic and also French and English. I am helping her with english. And she is inspiring me to learn French. I see she knows three languages. I know only my first. I finally said hey everybody else knows more than one language and I am finally going to do it. So French is it. The language of Romance. Also hey if you don’t know any french people in real life big deal. Go into Second Life and meet some French people. Appreciate everything you learn. Don’t look at it like OMG this will take forever. Look at it like hey I will open this fun and intriguing program up everday for something to occupy my mind. Stimulate your mind for a few minutes. And as you know a year can go by a little too fast sometimes. And when it happens as it will you will know how to speak French. Maybe not like a scholar in a year but hey fundamentals to start you communicating and feeling part of it all. Ok well good luck. Wish me luck too. Oh and hey I am not rich but I threw down the 400 anyway. I wanted a Plasma or LCD HD but said no that isn’t the responsible thing. This is the smart thing to do. Buy the tv in a few months when they get cheaper from this bad economy. Do this for your life. To be somebody. Ok thanks for reading my type happy review. Having used this for several months now i found the immersion approach to be well suited
For french. It is familiar enough to really progess rapidly essentially through pattern recognition. Other more diverse
Languages are difficult to learn and some user may find the
Rosetta stone approach to be overwhelming in those instances.

I have been using this program for about a month. I really love the way it employes all aspect of language learning, pronunciation, writing, and listening. It monitors your progress and keeps track of your accomplishements. I like the total immersion style and best of all, it’s really fun to work on. I look forward to doing a few lessons each night.

This review is written by my 16-year old daughter who installed the software (with a little help from me) and started using it.
“The RosettaStone Version 4: French Level 1,2 & 3″ is a fun, engaging introduction to learning a new language.
The program comes with three corresponding Audio Companion CDs PER LEVEL, for a total of 12 disks of instructional software in one product. (The Audio Companion software can be downloaded to an MP3 player). Each Level has four different units, for each of which you practice Pronunciation, Vocabulary, Phrases, Speaking, and more. RosettaStones’ unique feature is its use of “language immersion” as a teaching tool. The program shows you images and the corresponding French words for what is in the pictures. There is no direct English-to-French vocabulary translation (that I’ve seen thus far), and this makes learning the language more enjoyable and more natural. The graphics are very aesthetically pleasing as well.
The audio software is one of the best parts about this program. The product comes with a USB Headset Microphone, and the program uses voice recognition software for you to practice pronunciation. Better yet, you can record yourself saying the same phrase several times and then play it back to listen to your progress and compare your pronunciation to that of a native speaker.
One drawback to the program is that you cannot pause a lesson easily if you need to see something again. You have to wait until the end of the lesson and then go back to particular part of it, but this is a minor inconvenience that does not take away too much from the program’s quality.
I’ve only begun to use RosettaStone, but I am very pleased with the product thus far and will continue to use it.”
