Be aware that this drive, like many sold, is 250 billion bytes, not 250 gb. It is really 232 gb. They certainly are not the only manufacturer to lie, though usually the liars admit that, when they refer to a gb, they mean 1 billion bytes, not 2^40 bytes. This one didn’t.
It is a sleek drive, as advertised.
It works. I can plug it right in and start copying stuff (I had my own cable). Not a surprise but worth mentioning. I can’t comment on reliability or the backup program yet since I just got it.

This is just an awful product. It broke in less than a year and is not constructed well or made solid. Can’t withstand anything whatsoever and just recently broke. Trust me, don’t buy anything made by SimpleTech if you want to keep your data safe.

I have 6 external drive that I use for storage. They represent several different brands include Iomega and WD. This is my first one from this company. It simply doesn’t work. It “lights up” but neither my desktop nor my notebook recognize it. I’ve never had this problem with a hard drive. Maybe this is a fluke since there are lemons in all products but I’ve never experienced this before.
The company isn’t helpful. I’m planning on replacing this with one of the mini Iomega drives.

Wow, what a bummer. I had this drive for only three months, and it crashed. It has my entire system backup on it, including all my iTunes. I tried a different USB port and power adapter, but couldn’t get it back to life. What a drag. Files lost and no way to get them back.

I buyed this portable drive and It’s really really good It have got a backup software enough interesting. The most important is what It doesn’t need power, already the power gets USB port. It’s very compact and very nice.
