This product was a disappointment. It won’t work with my Palm TX, so buying it was a waste.

The company that made the product is now defunct. I was never able to get my printer to work. It came with a cable that did not work. I bought an IR device that never made a connection and then after contacting the seller, I bought the cable they said to buy. It still does not work.

SiPix Pocket Printer A6 for PDAs (Blue)
A hard-cased, sleek-styled workhorse ahead of its time, still crisp and working flawlessly! My SiPix was a new-in-box online auction purchase 6 years ago. It has worked through my pda Visor Deluxe, Palm IIIe, IIIc, and still performing excellently on my SonyEriccson PEG SJ-22 Hi-Res. Here’s some specs followed by performance and usage evolution.
Prices: Still usd12- minimum, should include ac adaptor w/either sheet pkg or roll.
Unit Size: US5.85X4.25X.992; Metric150X109X25.4; w/sturdy, velvet drawstring fitted carry-sack.
Unit Weight: 8.75oz (250g) w/o 4 AA batteries or paper, 14oz (400g) with all.
Paper sheets: High durability 60-90um thick thermal sheets (sold in 100 pks) 5.75″X4.125″ / 148mmX2.5mm aka paper size A6.
Paper rolls: 8′2″ / 2.5m thermal rolls ( 6/pkg) sold on very sturdy, thick, light liner-tubes. Longevity is double+ most fax thermals.
Interface: IrDA 1.0, Serial RS-232 (to PC: D sub 9 pin, to Printer: Mini Din 8 Pin)
Softwares: IrPrint/PocketPrint, Mac+PC drivers, output pda shell-layout, user defined: page quantity, margin sizing (to 3.75″/95mm text width), label/biz-card output, print database or any data exported to cal, phone, to do, memo, email. Premium printer-defined font assortments.
Power: 15W; 4 AA alkaline batteries w/3 minute auto-off, 9V AC adaptor w/ 1 hr auto-off.
Taskload: Monochrome 400 dpi, 2 ppm, 50 sheets per 4 AA battery load, product life well over 72,000+ impressions.
Surprisingly lightweight with distinctively executive look and feel, translucent body (black, grey, navy, and I think teal also ebayed in Canada) is seamless and smooth throughout, with just enough ribbing and clearance you’d long wanted engineered in for paper loading and exit accesses, plug-in convenience, Ir placement, on-off switching. Small rubber feet sheers afford grip, air-space, and eliminate mutual equipment contact scrapes or bumps. One-handed fit is lightweight and stable in hand and in use, placing your favorite static mat under your pda elevates it’s Ir to exactly that of the SiPix. Longest successful pda-SiPix Ir spacings with success were 10″L and 5″W. The infrared transmission is great, whether lighting is at home, office, school, on-site or outdoor. Easily installed software, no paper is wasted with user-definable paper lenths and print margins. Font results are professional with crisp legibility. I began using SiPix to print the PalmOS widgets: calendar, phone, to-do, notes, emails, then imported my databases into Notes, sizing margins and page lengths to fit my planner or meeting attendee needs. Meeting minutes prints and database updates for all attendees before meetings ended. On the SJ22 pda, bluetooth enabled easy browse, grab, print of my online emails, shared docs, etc. Now, customer quotes at their locations are easy–enter specs into pda-ware, export to pda memo and calendar in customer’s ‘account category’, print for customer, fax copy to my office staff or upload asap to online share points for more processing. If using more than one pda printer, be mindful of communication printer-specific settings to enable or disable. The printing is a no-babysit task since setting page length eliminates waste. The serrated tear-off was mfd recessed just right to tear off or run my pen across to pre-perforate a print-set. The heavy-duty unit body and table-to-wall length ac-serial plug port came in handy a few times. The paper load lid, roll chamber, flow path to tear-off razor have remained in-place with no loosening. While the need hasn’t occurred, online drivers always have been a search-engine click away. The on-off button and it’s auto-off cycle still mint, the sturdy infrared (Ir) lens has remained pristine, firmly intact as always, even the logo imprint is like new. The unit is so classy, besides being a solid hardware and reliable workhorse – no sofware crashes – ever. The on-off sound and printout sound are both quiet, confident, and not at all nerve shattering as some small office or mobile appliances. Though SiPix papers/rolls cost slightly more, they outlast 2X+ longer. My original prints are still as-new after 6 years. When I’ve used other thermal rolls, cut to size, they scratched and scored with the slightest touch, unlike SiPix papers. Happily, the exceptional thickness of SiPix papers has meant no dimming of prints handled outdoors, such as at an outdoor meeting or on-site quote-review. An added advantage to the dayplanner sized A6 sheets is easy inserting into zip-lock plastic baggie waterproof poolside schedules, landscaping notices that won’t be tossed. Updating student assignment and project tasks, lecture notes, and class schedules is instant. SiPix printers are still compatible with today’s gear. At the price, it’s the best buy around.

This product comes with a European Plug, so unless you live in Europe, you’ll pretty much have to run this thing on batteries unless you can find an American Plug that works for this device.
There is no USB connectivity. It is old technology, therefore you must either have a serial male connector on your computer or an infrared device that can send (not just receive) data. This means the infrared receiver on HP Pavilion laptops won’t do, because they are meant for the HP remote control only. Even with an Serial to USB converter, this printer fails to work because its poor drivers does not designate the correct port.
I tried using an infrared device also, yet it still failed for some reason. Whenever I tried to print something, including a test page, this LED on this device would start blinking and my IRDA device would say it is losing its connection with this printer.
Finding drivers online for this printer is very difficult and the ones that I do find do not solve the problems I face.
It would be a great printer if I could get it to work. Otherwise, it is going to cause alot of headaches.
I won’t recommend this item unless you’re purchasing it for something other than an PC or laptop. If you really want a portable printer for your laptop, I would advise looking for somewhere else and be willing to spend more money on newer products.

The SiPix A6 is a nice little add-on for people who need prints in the field. One thing to remember is that for most Palms, you NEED some piece of software to print with. IRPrint is a good one, but there are others.
The OEM paper is a bit costly, but you can sometimes find thermal register paper in rolls in about the same size at a well-stocked office supply store. I scored a good deal a few years ago but have not seen any like it since. (Doubly annoying as you really cannot store too much of this paper without it going grey.)
