Bought this for a Dell 710m (which requires the caddy and adapter board from the dying or upgraded drive).
So far so good. Reads DVD RWs and CDs without problem, (don’t know about recording however). It is very quiet and rattle free. Installation only required the transfer of the caddy. Windows XP seems to have identified the correct driver.
The only flaw is the drive is slightly longer than the original drive. The drive door protrudes outside the Dell chassis by the slightly more than the width of the disc tray face plate.
