The sound quality is exceptional. The biggest downside is that it is very difficult to get the headphones into the case. I planned to use this with a laptop computer, and I’m not looking forward to fighting with the case every day. When the cord is wrapped around the holder, the jacks fall at the end of the case which prevent the cover from snapping on. If the cord were a little longer or a little shorter, the jacks would be in a part of the case that would allow it to shut. It is difficult to get the jacks repositioned so that the case will snap closed. I think an easy solution would be to tie up the cord on itself so it’s a bit shorter–but come on–Sony should have figured this out during testing.

I bought this thinking that it will be good for both Skype and music, considering Sony’s reputation and prior experience (SONY MDR-E828). First, for internet phone calling, it is great. Clear voice on both ends. For music, it is terrible, and my > 5yr-old E828 is 10x better. I am a little disappointed, since i still have to carry two sets in the laptop bag.

I am so surprised by the high quality of the sound I’ve got on the mic. It is better than my USB mic.

The headset is very easily portable (the hard case was a great idea!), and so far it looks pretty sturdy – I’ve had it for one month.
The sound quality, both for output and input, is great. I use it for online communication with my parents, and they actually noticed the difference the first time I used it.
I hope it is also durable. Only time will tell…

Like I said it works, but sound distorts easily and the mic is not quite sensitive enough. It works well if you hold it right up to your mouth, but that’s just a nuisance.
