I have been reading reviews on this particular dvd player and I am almost convinced that alot of these gripes about the player are nothing more than operator error. I went on to the sony website and read the instructions for this unit and found that it is simple enough if you know what you are doing, meaning some folks who are not good in paying attention to details will miss out. No one else makes a dvd player like this that is good and affordable. My friend loves his Sony dvd changer and I am picking one up myself.

Though I never actually got my hands on this unit, therefore I can’t comment on its functionality, dependability, etc., I can say that Sony’s customer service is one of the worst I’ve ever come across. Hoping to save some money, I ordered a refurbished unit directly from Sony. Needless to say it never arrived. After several days and numerous calls to FedEx and Sony, the item was finally “tracked” down and returned to sender. FedEx claimed the box was crushed during shipment and labeled undeliverable. Sony offered a refund but nothing else. I was told I would have to reorder the item and start the whole process all over again. Fine. No problem. Except for the fact that the item is no longer in stock as is the case with many refurbished items. I was told I would just have to wait. I asked about a discount on a brand new one. ‘No we don’t do that’ was the response I got. So, basically their answer to my problem was ‘Sorry, FedEx screwed-up. It’s not our fault, and it sucks to be you’.
I vowed never to buy another Sony product in my lifetime, even though part of me still wanted this dumb thing. That is until now. After reading some of the reviews here, I’m actually glad that things happened the way they did. I believe I have been spared many more days of aggravation.

I can’t review this product because it was never received. Now, I can’t even get a refund of my money which has been held for a month now without the submission of a claim through the A-Z warranty program. The refund may or may not be approved. I’m totally disgusted.

I had previously owned a Sony Carousel with DVD programming capacity. The 995 will program CDs but not DVDs. When you own this many DVDs you want a changer with programming capacity for them. Otherwise what’s the point? The Carousel is a far better purchase.

Wow I really wanted to buy this product but after reading the reviews I will not.
Sony take note! You need to improve.
I will look else where.
